Advertisements in Superbowl - Snickers commercial

Last evening, as I watched the Superbowl with my nine year old son, I became extremely annoyed at the MARS Corporation and their advertisement for Snickers which showed two guys locking lips. I can't even fathom why somebody thought that this would be a good advertisement for that particular product and why they chose to air it during this event, especially when they knew children would be watching. If their aim was to draw controversy in the hopes of increasing sales, then I sincerely hope they missed their mark. I hope that, instead, they lose sales because of their idiocy.

I called in and registered my strong disapproval this morning at 1-908-852-1000. (If you call, when you get the phone tree, just press "0")

Our family will not be buying MARS products ... Products that MARS makes/distributes: M&M'S, SNICKERS, MARS bars, Milky Way, Skittles, and TWIX.

I called the 1-900 number and got a 'wrong number' answer. Called 1.800 and it was busy. Can you check that number for us, please? I thot it was disgusting too.

It was a lame night for good ads period.

....they are going to loose the non-fans if they keep putting out crappy ads...

....and what were they thinking, booking 'the artist currently known as prince'

Seeing Prince all washed up doing the halftime show was pretty funny.

Sheeh. It was portrayed as accidental and the guys showed the proper disgust with it having happened in the first place.

Although I found that one especially gross they were all lame and investors really need to question how ad dollars are spent.

All I could think of after seeing it was:
1. Homophobes eat Snickers
or
2. closet Gay guys eat Snickers

Either way the ad is bad news for sells.

Eh, I thought it was funny. Funny seeing the guys rip out their chest hair to prove they were men, haha.

Honestly, seeing people berate this commercial is almost as bad as reading the NY Times piece on how every violent commercial was somehow showing undertones of the Iraq war. Lame.

Two guys under the hood of a car, one pulls out a snickers and sticks it in his mouth, the other leans over and bites the other end, they meet in the middle. Jump wide-eyed away from each other, saying "I think we just kissed," and "quick, do something manly" and proceed to rip large swatches of hair off their chests and howl with pain. It was pathetic.

It was not particularly funny, but Wow, talk about overreaction.

I guess I'm glad we missed this one as we were turning to Animal Planet's PUPPY BOWL III during most of the game breaks.

I watched about 2 minutes total of the whole game. I saw a guy named Mohamed score a touchdown and following that TD a commercial with 2 guys making out over a candy bar came on. I wondered what Mohamed thought of that and got a chuckle.

That snickers commercial was ridiculous. It drew groans of annoyance from the assembled group watching the game with me.

Hi ChiefJayStrongbow-

You must have really gone nuts with that homoerotic Chevrolet advertisement with all the semi-nekkid men washing the car.

Such a provocative ad may increase product awareness but discourage actual purchasing. At least, it won't encourage young people to run out and buy that brand of candy bar.
