You must've missed his dance on the immigration issue.

There is NO reason for a NEED for a partial-birth abortion.

Yep .. it's at least two day procedure .. if the mother life is in danger then you do a c-section

Rudy has argued cases before the Supreme Court. (Did not know that)

Then you didn't do your homework.

I researched Giuliani's resume before he was even Mayor of New York.

Yes, I did; six more states are thinking about jumping in on February 5th, in addition to the ones who would have decided it anyway.

Then the real fight will start.

He [Rudy] was asked about abortion and guns at the FRW event. On the former, he said he was personally opposed to the procedure but didn’t want to go down the road of imprisoning women who have an abortion. On the latter, he said he viewed gun rights as a matter best left for states to decide.

As mayor, Rudy did what he had to do to achieve safety and security in a city that was filled with dangerous criminals and illegal weapons. Rudy's stewardship has unfortunately been twisted into a false anti-Second Amendment stance by opponents of the Mayor. But now we're seeing Rudy's true position on the issue. Rudy's belief that no new federal gun laws are needed is a mainstream conservative position shared by most Republicans. Just one more piece of evidence that Rudy isn't just a Republican, but a conservative.

On the Federal judiciary I would want judges who are strict constructionists because I am. I’m a lawyer. I’ve argued cases in the Supreme Court. I’ve argued cases in the Court of Appeals in different parts of the country. I have a very, very strong view that for this country to work, for our freedoms to be protected, judges have to interpret not invent the Constitution. Otherwise you end up, when judges invent the constitution, with your liberties being hurt. Because legislatures get to make those decisions and the legislature in South Carolina might make that decision one way and the legislature in California a different one. And that’s part of our freedom and when that’s taken away from you that’s terrible. President Bush has the great model because I think as the President he did appoint some really good ones and both of them are former colleagues of mine - Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito. Justice Scalia is a former colleague of mine. Somebody that … I think Chief Justice Roberts is a great chief justice and he’s young and he can have a long career and that’s probably the reason the President and Vice President chose him. I think those are the kinds of justices I would appoint – Scalia, Alito and Roberts. If you can find anybody as good as that, you are very, very fortunate. link

I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights, Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded. Source: CNN.com, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999 http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Rudy_Giuliani_Abortion.htm

ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES (November 14, 2006)

RUDY GIULIANI (R), FORMER MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY: I'm pro- choice. I'm pro-gay rights.

KING: Giuliani supports a woman's right to an abortion, and back in 1999, he opposed a federal ban on late-term abortions.

GIULIANI: No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing.

KING: Immigration could be another presidential landmine. Back in 1996, Mayor Giuliani went to federal court to challenge new federal laws requiring the city to inform the federal government about illegal immigrants.

JEFFREY: He took the side of illegal immigrants in New York City against the Republican Congress.

KING: Giuliani opposes same-sex marriage but as mayor, he supported civil unions and extending health and other benefits to gay couples. He also supported the assault weapons ban and other gun control measures opposed by the National Rifle Association.

GIULIANI: I'm in favor of gun control. I'm pro-choice.

Republican Big-Wigs Support Pro-Abortion Event in NY

Pro-abortion Governor George Pataki and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also supports unrestricted abortion, are co-chairs of the 2000 Choice Award Presentation to be held on May 30 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. The event is sponsored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition, a group that is campaigning for the removal of the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform.

Rudy just articulated in five minutes what Bush could not do in six years.

Yes, he did. That won't go over well with the conservative contingent of those with a severe man crush on slow witted guys in cowboy hats. Brokeback Republican thing, I have always suspected.

While he was the “Republican Mayor” of New York City he appointed more than 60 men and women to the Civil, Criminal, and Family Court benchs. In all of those judicial appointment not one of them was a Republican.

All of his judical appointments were either registered Liberals or registered Democrats. As the “Republican Mayor” he had appointment power over more than 70 full commissioners in more than 50 City agencies, yet at no time during his administration did REPUBLICANS account for more than 10% of those appointments.

He even appointed Chuck Schumers wife as the City’s Department of Transportation Commissioner.

Slick did NOT "come out of the woodwork", no matter HOW many times you Hunertiets post that canard.

He was a VERY well known governor, he gave the preeminent into speech at the '88 Dem Convention which he muffed something terrible and them spent months, on T.V., trying to apologize for, make excuses for, wiggle out of, and ingratiate himself.

He was also VERY well known and liked in the party.

Hunter has NONE of that and is an unknown, even in California, outside of his district.

I am feeling hopeful about the future too. I was so depressed after the election, I just watched TBN and my DVDs. I couldn't bear to watch the news about the Democrats taking over Congress.

Now with the Republicans blocking the war no-confidence vote and Rudy's great performance, I am looking forward to 2007 and 2008.

It is really tragic when doctors have to do a c-section because of fetal demise
There is no indication for a partial birth abortion to prevent death in a mother
Partial birth abortion is a more physically traumatic procedure that a c-section.

Insanity is ignoring the lesson of 11/06

Believe me, we learned our lesson on 11/6; we will NOT be going over THAT cliff again. Go all by yourself this time.
