After struggling to quit smoking in the past, Sen. Barack Obama is trying a cessation aid not available over the counter: public attention.

Obama (D-Ill.) resolved to quit his cigarette habit over the winter holidays, just weeks before his expected presidential campaign would make photographers and reporters an even more regular part of his life.

He said in a Monday interview that, although he has never been a heavy smoker, he has quit for periods over the last several years but then slipped back into the habit. On the cusp of a potential presidential bid seemed the right time to quit for good, he said.

Here we see Obama trying to hold in the smoke so as not to be caught smoking.

IMHO, smoking is the least of his problems. I think he should spend his energy trying to dilute Hillary's dirty tricks on his campaign.

I smoked for a few (almost 20) years, quiting was the easiest thing in the world I did it a hundred times. /sarc

I never 'slipped' into the addiction. What an A$$.

How many hundreds of hours have both he and Hillary spent staring in the mirror all their lives, practicing that ridiculous "chin-UP" pose?

May their disgusting egos be truly humbled one day. Deeply, deeply humbled.

I'm getting tired of hearing about this guy. He's a left wing extreme liberal and the media love him. They think they are doing him a favor with a new/angle every just about day. But I wonder. There's such a thing as overexposure. Enough already!

What, a smoker? I fail to see how his habits trump his politics. I would think you wouldn't want him there for political reasons. That's what you meant to say, right?

This is what Bill Clinton used to do.

Each morning Bubba would have some little news item so that the whole nation had to think about him every-single-day!

Obama gets less than zero respect from me.

But as an ex-smoker I know how hard it can be to quit.

That goes without saying. I don't want Barrack Hussein Osama Obama in the White House for all reasons. But the fact that the Clean articulate (Biden's adjectives) is a habitual smoker is icing on the cake. Smoking is a diry little habit, it makes everything around the smoker smell like tobacco smoke, and it coats his lungs with black tar, and makes little organge nicotine stains on his teeth and hands. The fact that he is addicted to a unhealthy habit, shows his weakness. Yeah..it makes Obama Human alright. ha.

I certainly do not want to suggest to any Freepers that it is not your right to smoke, or regulations of tobaccos, are pass judgement on anyone in the Smoking Backroom.. but puhhhhhhleeeeeeeze can't we just paint Osama Obama with a nicotine tar brush, without guilt.

Sorry not the Smoking backroom, but the Smoky Backroom...I have been there twice in Free Republic History....the first time, when I did not know better, and the other time....in a brawl. I was somehow teleported in , without knowing how I got there..Like Alice thru the looking glass.
