Yes, that makes sense. I have never heard anyone in a position of power or influence in the United States, point out to our high school and college children, (sorry but that's what they are, IMO) that warfare is inherent in mankind. While group hugs and "why can't we all get along" appeals, are a noble cause to pursue for the long term, in the foreseeable future we are going to be killing each other, either as aggressors or defenders. That's why we have to remain strong, very strong.

Better revisit that overly smug assumption: Actually my assumption was that Russia would not try to invade (no manpower and they already have the space they need). China is an entirely different ballgame as you have just shown.
China still needs about 20-40 years to make a good blue water navy with the transport capability to move 40 million soldiers. Then they might have a shot at it.
