In particular, the study found, girls were twice as likely as boys to say they'd ever "felt bad about themselves" after having sex, and three times more likely to say they'd felt used. Imagine that ... serving as a public toilet causes you to feel bad about yourself!
I feel so sad for all these kids, boys and girls.

"When parents and teens talk about the consequences of having 'sex,' they may not take the time to define what sex is," The "Education President" already taught kids that definition -- my daughter was 11 at the time and brought it up to me. She also mentioned watchng a classmate go Monica on a guy in the band hallway in junior high school between classes! There's your legacy, Bubba -- Young girls doing this at too early an age and facing negative consequences.

Is it just me or does the solution, at the end, suggest that we should encourage young girls not to feel bad? and that is what will solve the problem?

"In contrast, boys' sexuality and sexual behavior is generally accepted," Brady and Halpern-Felsher pointed out. "Parents can play an important role in helping to eliminate this double standard by encouraging respect for women and discouraging the use of derogatory sexual terms."
How about just "discouraging" the sexual activity in the first place?!?!?

Feelings of guilt aren't just trained into a person, a Pavlovian response learned by moral teachings. Such teaching will certainly play a role, but there's more to it.
There really are absolute wrongs and rights. Your heart and soul can feel that. Many have wasted away their lives trying to soothe the ache with more sex, alcohol and/or drugs.

Just "No".
No hetero.
No homo.
No auto.
Don't touch the nasty thing.
Ever.
Don't look at it.
Don't think about it.
And if you do, you are a dirty and unworthy person, forever condemned to perdition (I had to look that word up).

"Researchers at the University of California San Francisco found that up to one-half of the sexually active teenagers in their study said they'd ever felt "used," guilty or regretful after having sex."
On a California college campus, this report is absolute heresy and someone is going to lose their tenure over it. (I'm only half kidding.)
And if somebody feels guilty or regretful over casual sex, they obviously need counseling to realize that sleeping around like a French hooker is a good and healthy thing and only some kind of religous fanatic would find fault with it. /sarc

Parents can play an important role in helping to eliminate this double standard by encouraging respect for women and discouraging the use of derogatory sexual terms. Yet these same clowns will defend the gutter lyrics of gangsta rappuhs as "artistic free expression."
These people can't seem to get their lies straight. They glorify the jungle culture of hip hop and (c)rap, then bemoan the declining moral standards of the kids who listen to that noise. They denigrate religion at every turn, then complain that kids are materialistic and uninspired. They defend Bill Clinton and his hijinks, then gawk in amazement when rates of oral sex among teenagers skyrocket.
Three words, idiots: Cause. And. Effect.

I'm wondering if all this is meant to ingrain a life long victimhood mentality (that pathetic way of thinking fostered by the left) in children. I've heard plenty of WW2 and holacaust survivors who suffered real emotional trauma say the way to recover is to put it in the past and move on in life.
