CNN) -- The Grammy Awards were nice to the Dixie Chicks, who won song of the year, a songwriter's award, for "Not Ready to Make Nice." The Chicks -- Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison -- shared the award with Dan Wilson, formerly of Semisonic and Trip Shakespeare. "I, for the first time in my life, am speechless," said Maines, who became a controversial figure in 2003 after making critical comments about President Bush. "Not Ready to Make Nice" was a response to the controversy; after Maines' comments, the Chicks' songs were pulled from a number of country music stations and the group was pilloried by former fans. The Chicks have won three awards. They also won best country performance by a duo or group with vocal and, after the song of the year award, were honored with best country album for "Taking the Long Way." "A lot of people just turned their TVs off right now," Maines said after the country album award.

Yep, the Dixie Twits got some little PhonyGraffs....

big woop.

Carey Underwood was badly miked, but really deserved HER awards.

Christina Aguilera was OUTSTANDING singing James Brown.

A real top notch performance.

The Police stank.

Wasn't Al Bore involved in PMRC or was that Tipper?

Kind of hypocritical of the music industry to be embracing him now.

I thought it was ironic that Gore was giving an award right after my local station just gave out a hysterical "Snowstorm of the Century" alert.

Could they turn these 'awards' into anything more political?! They are trying to shove it in our faces but it won't work. I'll just tune them out even more than I already do!

I had it on, muted. Turned on sound to hear Carrie Underwood and got my Bob Wills/Johnny Gimble fix of the night. Ah Haw!

Then back to mute, except when I glanced and saw a couple more, then *click* off when 10PM News came on another channel.

Well, they just won again. Talk about overkill....I never thought I'd ever feel sorry for rich music people, but there had to be someone who got jobbed of an award for these PC cows.

Maybe their record company can hawk those "Grammy" trophies and get a little money back on their poor investment. I wonder what one of those things goes for nowadays.

Of course, they had to end the show playing their "Not Ready to Make Nice" single. No, not political at all.
