Moscow requests U.S. explanation for Gates' Russia remarks - Kamynin

MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - The Russian authorities have requested a U.S. explanation for remarks made by Pentagon chief Robert Gates regarding Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin told Interfax on Monday.

"Acting through the U.S. ambassador in Moscow, we have requested a clarification of the extent to which Robert Gates' remarks match the official position of the U.S. administration," he said.

At a U.S. congressional committee meeting last Wednesday, Gates spoke about the uncertainty surrounding the future development of the situations in Russia, North Korea, Iran and China.

Moscow "has naturally paid attention to the U.S. minister's remarks, especially as high-ranking representatives of the U.S. defense agency and intelligence community have more than once made statements about Russia recently that cause our surprise," Kamynin said. It is difficult to get rid of the impression that all these remarks are parts of "a certain system of negative assessments of our country," he said.

STFU you crypto-Soviets.Russia is the global troublemaker No 1. "President" Putin bashes the USA and you complain about Gates remarks, which were (for my taste) far too kind, funny and friendly.

U.S. Defense Secretary thinks that American armed forces must be ready for a large-scale war, the Associated Press reports. “We need a full set of measures to conduct a war, including both special military units necessary for war against terrorists and infantry troops to be able to fight against large regular armies. We do not know what changes can take place in such countries as Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and others,” Robert Gates stated.

Thank you. I guess it's okay to be war-ready, but not to talk about it.

Ya think? You've strangled the budding democratic system in the cradle, and you wonder why some might share a "negative assessment" of Russia. It would also help if you would resist the temptation to murder Russian dissidents, in and outside of the country. You might also refrain from using radioactive isotopes as a way of eliminating your enemies. I could go on, but I'm getting bored with the whole lot of you.

Look at Russian arms sales to Iran and Syria, their pressuring of former Soviet block countries in the East to ask NATO to leave, threats and bullying of Eastern European nations, KGB tactics in eliminating those who speak out, new media censorship, centralization of power, state reemergence as the controlling agent in all economic aspects, reluctance to act on Iran and the building of their nuclear power plant......... etc etc etc.

How absurd can this get! Russia says we oppose Iran having nukes and it's the Russians BUILDING the plant!

The trend here is kind of obvious. The Russians like to play offended or like to pretend and play all sorts of games, but in the end it's really simple to understand. "You're playing against us in many aspects, we don't trust you because you're becomeing more like that Communist regime you once were by the day."

If Russia doesn't want us to consider them the enemy they should quit siding with our enemies against us and otherwise acting like an enemy. This is a request that should be ignored.
