"I've concluded this gun fetish is Freudian."

Actually its Jeffersonian.

Go ahead and calls names if that makes you feel good.

But silly names will not lead me to compromise on civil rights.

Rudy is a Rino and has forfeited my vote by virtue of his embrace of gun control.

Rudy decreased the size of NYC government as Mayor.

Is THAT what you call a 32% increase in spending, twice the rate of inflation? Gosh, who knew?

Rudy cut crime overall and cut the murder rate by 70%.

Bratton did that, not Rudy.

Rudy was appointed twice by Ronald Reagan to the Justice Department.

And this qualifies him as President?

Rudy:" I have a very, very strong view that for this country to work, for our freedoms to be protected, judges have to interpret not invent the Constitution."

Most of Clinton's policies are very similar to most of mine. - Rudy Giuliani

Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it. - Rudy Giuliani

that I fully expected Rudy to get a lot of the same people Reagan got - you know - those Reagan Democrats and moderates.

You did say that. Sounds like very risky business to me. A lot is going to depend on events no one can foresee; specifically the wars and future terrorist attacks on us.

Newt is a tremendous writer and has a rare gift for organizing his thoughts as well as his agenda.

But he lacks the background, charisma and charm that is needed to be President. I believe he would make one of the best Secretary's of State or Attorney's General that this country has ever seen, however.

Newt is very, very smart. Brilliant actually. But he talks before he thinks sometimes and he contradicts himself and then pretends it never happened.

And what is with this buddying up with Hillary? If the FBI file she has on him that bad?

Elections are risky and things happen that have unforseen consequences.

Anyway, you may want to read this entire article; it was interesting:

Among self-identified Republicans, Giuliani scored 71.7, ahead of both McCain and Newt Gingrich; among White Evangelicals/Born-again Christians, he scored 66.3, 8 points better than George W. Bush.

A Survey USA poll taken last summer positing head-to-head contests in all 50 states between all leading contenders showed McCain and Giuliani beating Hillary Clinton in electoral landslides, 351 to 187 and 354 to 184, both holding almost all the red Bush states, flipping the blue states of Pennsylvania and Michigan, and breaking up the Democratic entrenchments in New England and in the Far West.

Both "won" in Oregon, Connecticut, Maine, and Rhode Island; McCain, the reformer from the open spaces of Arizona, won the Birkenstock states of Washington, Minnesota, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Giuliani shook loose New Jersey (which was hit very hard on 9/11), and held on to Florida, which flipped to Hillary against John McCain.

In a CBS News poll released early this year, the Metro Republicans (McCain and Giuliani) beat the conventional Democrats (John Edwards, Al Gore, Hillary Clinton) by double digits among independents, and have much lower unfavorable ratings among those in the opposite party. Polls taken almost two years out are of course not to be taken to the bank.

Newt is probably playing the World's smartest woman like an Italian fiddle, if you ask me. He knows how to get into her head so he can later use it against her in some way.

It's just a guess, but something is brewing with her and it involves the rivalry between the Soros/Spielberg hollywood bunch and the East Coast Kennedy Elite establishment.

Obama is right in the middle of the two waring factions.

I am not a supporter of Newt, but this post is characteristically total hooey. Newt has far more background in international politics than anyone running, including my preferred candidate Duncan Hunter. His experience as speaker has left him an intimate understanding of both the revenue and spending side of government as respects every department. As for charisma and charm, why do you think he was hired at Fox News, because he was dull?

FR is not representative of the greater American populace.

This forum was just as fractured the last time around and came back together; more or less. FR will NEVER again be as all together, as it was when Clinton was president. Even IF *spit* Hillary is elected, blame for such a catastrophe will probably keep it separated/Balkanized; if recent history is any indication.

"Be true to the principles it was founded on.............."? Abolishing slavery? LOL

Look, if you want Lincoln, Silent Cal or Reagan, become a grave robber; you aren't going to get a replacement. Times change, problems change, and remember, Ike was NO Goldwater; for all that and Barry lost in a massive landslide.
