Iraq probably could make a fortune by walling off it's borders, then have a fenced in toll highway straight across their country to Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Iran and Kuwait.

Iraq's government said on Tuesday it had closed its borders with Syria and Iran and extended the hours of a night curfew in Baghdad under a U.S.- backed security plan to rein in violence in the capital. It's about time! Sheesh!
They should just build a wall. Iran wants control of Iraq. That's what this so called "civil war" is all about.
To: spacejunkie
They should've done that right after Shock and Awe. To hell with this PC war. Take off the gloves and stop playing nice over there!
To: spacejunkie
Isnt this like closing the barn doors after the cows got out?

Syria and Iran are trading partners with Iraq. Iraq is not self sufficient and I don't think we want the US airlifting aid to Iraqis

They should've done that right after Shock and Awe. To hell with this PC war. Take off the gloves and stop playing nice over there!THAT'S why the American people have turned against this war. Our military isn't "allowed" to fight. They're not even allowed to "offend" the enemy. If the U.S. had just gone in and fought the war, all this would be over by now. Instead, the administration caved to PC. That peeved off a lot of people and caused a lot of U.S. losses.
If our government hadn't listened to the left wing, things would have been a lot different today, and that's why people are angry at Bush. They're telling him to pee or get off the pot - win this war or get out.

That is what I thought too.

A longer closure could be interpreted as US action against Iran being imminent. This way they the pressure is supposed to be relieved in 3 days, back to "normal."
IOW, it's just another diversion.

How about a brick wall with electrial charges attached, and a moat with phirana fish and then rotweiler dogs stationed another 1000 feet inside the border at a guard station (so the dogs can get proper food too!). Oh, they're talking about the Iraqi border - foolish me I was thinking of my home state of Arizona's border...sorry!

Syria and Iran are trading partners.....?
No, they are conduits to trading parners. Iran sells what to Iraq.....pistachios? And Syria sells them hookahs? They are trading partners only in the sense that overland trade flows through Syria and Iran---expensive European goods through Syria and cheap Pakistani textiles through Iran.

I don't know about Syria, but Iran is trading extensively with southern Iraq. All kind of East Asian knock-off stuff (from cars to electronics) are aviable in Iran and now in Iraq. Also pilgrims visiting the Shia shrines in Iraq are bringing lots of cash.

Don't they realize that Iranians and Syrians are just hardworking family-values human beings who are willing to do the jobs that Iraqis are not willing to do???
ROTFLMAO!

It's a test of something.
I'd say they think they can learn what they're trying to find out in that period of time.
