(CNSNews.com) - Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani told a Silicon Valley business group on Monday that he "definitely'' believes in global warming, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. He also praised Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for being a "progressive'' leader on the environment and calling for immigration policies that welcome "people who make contributions" to America's economy.

Lawmakers Cancel Global Warming Hearing as Mammoth Snowstorm Heads East
Wednesday, February 14, 2007
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. House lawmakers canceled a morning subcommittee meeting onglobal warming as the mammoth snowstorm that has caused chaos across the Midwest headed east. The Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality hearing entitled "Climate Change: Are Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Human Activities Contributing to a Warming of the Planet?" will be rescheduled at a later time, the committee announced.
The federal government in Washington dismissed most employees at 2 p.m. Tuesday as the National Weather Service posted winter storm watches and warnings from Iowa and Missouri across the Ohio Valley into parts of New England.
As the storm plowed eastward, more than 2 inches of snow fell by midday at Pittsburgh, while parts of Indiana measured more than 11 inches with drifts up to 6 feet, the weather service said.

Sliding cars and jackknifed trucks snarled highway traffic, and flights were grounded as a storm blew out of the Midwest with a threat of up to 2 feet of blowing, drifting snow.
Up to 18 inches of snow was forecast for northern Pennsylvania, with a chance of 2 feet at higher elevations. Twenty-inch accumulations were possible in parts of New York state, where communities on the eastern end of Lake Ontario have endured a week of lake-effect snow that totaled more than 11 feet.

I was willing to give him a chance based on the Vannity & Colmes interview last week. As I've heard more from him since that time, he's off my list.
My hot buttons are terrorism (which includes illegal aliens), government spending, taxes, and government intervention.

I found another article that goes a little deeper into what he really said. From
CBS5.com:
~snip
Giuliani praised California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, calling him a "progressive leader" and adding, "I generally agree with Governor Schwarzenegger."
~snip
Giuliani said he believes global warming is occurring but is not sure how much of it is caused by humans, and suggested the U.S. should look at expanding its use of nuclear power and other alternative energy sources.
~snip
On immigration, Giuliani said while the country needs to ensure that terrorists, drug dealers and other criminals are not entering the country we should not be driving law-abiding immigrants away. "The worst problem would be . . . if you're the country that nobody wants to come to," Giuliani said.
I'm not defending the guy, I just think that the thread's article was kind of short on what he actually said.

More from the CBS5 article:
"Giuliani, a Republican, said he supports efforts to move California's 2008 presidential primary from June to February, a shift that would allow him to compete outside of conservative early voting states where his stands on gays, guns and abortion have been viewed as too liberal."
(Wants to front load the polls with liberal support before the conservatives lower the boom)
~snip~
"Giuliani shunted aside questions about the differences between himself and Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Democratic front-runner in the presidential race."
(Gee, I wonder why?)
~snip~
"When asked about former Vice President Al Gore's Oscar-nominated documentary about global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth," Giuliani criticized the film as lacking in solutions."
(Guess he sees nothing wrong with Gore's assinine assumptions -- just doesn't think Prince Albert has the right solutions)

Oh man - it just keeps getting worse with this guy. There's simply no defending him.
To: Jim Robinson
(Wants to front load the polls with liberal support before the conservatives lower the boom) iirc, we basically had the same process in the 2000 cycle. Difference is that W held on to enough of our conservative principles to allow enough of us to swallow our spit and vote for him - twice.
Different this time. The heir apparent that is being trotted out holds opposite positions on so many issues. Question is, can the base be aroused in time to "Just say no?"
