If the Republican party writes off the pro life, pro liberty, pro gun planks, well, let's just say it will lose a great deal of respect, and I'm predicting a great deal of support. I can just about guarantee you that Free Republic will become much more anti RINO, anti liberal, anti big government than it's ever been. If we are left with no conservative leadership and no conservative majority to worry about maintaining, then I think it'll be open season on all RINOs from the top down and there will be a complete overhaul in the works.

But dont most the RINO's come from liberal districts anyhow? How would conservatives get rid of these people?

Love them fightin' words, oh, mighty hunter (film buff visualizing JR as Clark Gable in Mogambo).

RINO tracks in low country indicate they are pawing the ground, hell-bent on throwing social conservatives off the Republican flotilla. Pro-life, pro-liberty, pro-gun Americans---straight-shooting loyalists who MADE the party what it is today---are anathema to RINOs.

One of the most ignorant RINO assumptions is that social conservatives are gonna lay down and play dead while RINOs stampede us out of the Repub party.

I swear on a copy of the Second Amendment---it ain't gonna happen.

Go get 'em, JR----hunt them RINOs down, and pack 'em off to a kiddie zoo, where they belong.

You have 1000% backing on this (includes Ava, Grace, and Liz).

Dear Jim Robinson,

Gee, Jim. How disappointing. It sounds like for you, this Republican / Democrat thing isn't just like a football game, where the only thing that counts is the final score, and that your team got the most points.

It sounds to me like it matters to you what our team - the Republicans - actually believe and do. That kind of attitude is hardly going to win us any elections in an environment of "win at any cost, even if you have to draft players who really belong on the other side."

Taking my tongue out of my cheek, I guess the divide here is that for some folks, it's enough to PREVENT the other side from winning, no matter how much political territory we have to cede to them by electing someone close to them in terms of political positions. For other folks, it isn't enough to defeat the Dems, if we're accepting 80% of the Dems' political positions on any number of issues.

I think that for some folks here, membership in the Republican Party is almost like an ethnic thing - no matter what your party does, you stick with it.

For others of us, becoming Republican was about the values promoted by the party. And if the party no longer stands for the bulk of those values, then we'll have to figure out some other way to voice and express our political views.
