In the UK the damage goes even beyond the ownership of weapons. They have criminalized self-defense itself. Witness the few people who have dared to defend their homes or farms from violent intruders using a legal or illegal gun, they are often jailed like murderers. Remember the story of farmer Tony Martin who killed one of a gang of armed home invaders with his single barrel shotgun? He was released somewhat before the end of his five-year prison term.

They link gun ownership to "Anti-Social Behaviour". Unlicensed air rifle (yes, BB, pellet guns and SoftAir replicas) owners face a five-year prison term. You have to apply to the Secretary of State to possess prohibited weapons and ammo, which basically includes everything from mortars to a can of pepper spray.

But the laws just don't apply to criminals, who now are able to buy machine guns on the black market.

You'd think that the Brits would admit the total failure of their firearms policies, but not yet. Not yet.

All I have for "assault" rifles is my SKS that I LOVE. I went yesterday at lunch to buy some plinking ammo for it cause was gonna go shooting this weekend if the weather holds up.

Three stores, all out of stock. One store I bought their last two boxes they have had, I picked em up back in December.

Afraid I'm gonna have to buy a new rifle just so I can find ammo for it but a sidearm was first on my priority list since I already had a servicable rifle in the SKS.

Sigh...wife is going to be angry

They are down to the rack grade---still a deal.

The big rush at the CMP right now is the up comming sale of carbines (for the 1st time in years and years, maybe the last time.) I hope the Garands hold out---I want to buy another one. There are some coming back in still and probably will be for years off and on. But I needed the ammo first--you have to feed the mouths you already have and all.

Hope you get one--I love the damn things!

With the DemoRatz clawing up in power we see that they are wasting no time in trying to impose their fascist ways on the American people by:

1) Suppressing grassroots & conservative groups in their voice to Congress while giving wide berth to their liberal friends (Move-on, Planned Parenthood, People for the American Way, etc)
2) Attacking the 2nd Amendment in the Constitution (gun rights)
3) Furthering the Homosexual agenda with 'Hate Crime' laws
4) Expanding the Embryonic Stem-Cell research with Federal (Taxpayers) money
5) Cutting away the Presidential powers & authority as Commander In Chief
6) Emboldering the Al_quadia and other enemies by giving 'Rights' to terrorists as if they are held for normal civil/criminal crimes
7) Cutting funding for the War, which in turns embolders our enemies (again) for partisan gains!!

I shudder to think what would happen to the USA if the Demon-Rats controlled the Govt (House, Senate, White House).

Thanks for the heads-up regarding the M1 carbines; I've always wanted one. I've purchased from CMP before but hadn't visited the website in months.

The feeling I get is that they are going to push them through the system ASAP because of the obvious issues with the things.

I've got a mini 14 which, more or less, fills that niche for me. However, a new gun is always hard to resist...

Better hurry to get your M1 from CMP. They are running out quickly. They do have over 30,000 M1 carbines from Italy that they are sorting through now. Will go on sale in the next couple months.

Ther is little chance of this passing. The Democrats for flyover states know that voting for gun control is a vote to end their political career.

But the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

Yep. If someone on the train (Long Island Express?, iirc) had been armed that morning, they could have stopped Colin Fergusson dead in his tracks--long before he racked up 17 victims.

Afraid I'm gonna have to buy a new rifle just so I can find ammo for it

Cabella's has 500 rounds of Wolf 7.62x39 for $114.99 + shipping or 1000 rounds for $219.99 + shipping. I haven't checked at Cheaper Than Dirt recently but they're ammo is usually a little cheaper than Cabella's.

I bought Russian and Chinese 7.62x39 locally for about 9 cents a round as recently as 3 years ago, but those days are probably gone forever. I'm down to less than 300 rounds and have cut back on shooting the SKS just for fun because I can reload for my 6.5x55 Swede Mauser and the .30-30 for less than Russian SKS ammo costs these days.

And that's only because I still have quite a bit of bullets, primers, and powder that I bought several years ago. By the time that's been shot up reloading components will probably cost more than factory ammo costs today.

Don't buy from Cabela's, as you're paying twice the price for the name. There is plenty of 7.62x39 to be found in Shotgun News and Sportsman's Guide for under .20/round. You may have to buy in 1,000+ round quantities, but you should have no less than that on hand at all times for each rifle you own. The money you save ordering from SGN advertisers will more than pay for the shipping cost, and then some. Buy it now, buy it now, buy it now!

So guys, the question is this: when they do ban all "armor piercing" ammo, and/or all handguns, and/or all semi-auto rifles, etc., what are you going to do? There are many options, from simply being a good slave and turning 'em in, to burying your weapons in the hope that sanity will prevail at some later date, to exercising your RKBA for the reason it was protected in the BoR. Answer this question for yourself now, as there may not be time to think about it once the ink is dry. Don't tell anyone you don't trust with your life what your decision is. This is gut check time, bros.

Some people I know and I were discussing some issues with regards to long term storage of some firearms in the event of oppressive federal anti gun laws. I heard some interesting ideas on caching arms in hidden places and doing it in such a way to preserve them for years and years. I don't recall the details as these discussions were years ago. Something to ponder indeed.

I'll be hiding my H&K under my pillow.

PS: Be sure to keep a pre-ban rifle for yourself as they tend to give you some status among the folks out on the range.

Gimme a break.

Real status comes from hitting your target no matter what you shoot.

Except maybe among posers.

It ain't about status, nor is it about hunting.

Check out the text of McCarthy's bill. The M1 carbine is banned, by name. The appendix from the old ban that exempted the Garand is gone. The killer sentence is that any semiautomatic ever "used by the military or Federal law enforcement is not suitable for sporting purposes" That covers your Remington 1100 birdgun guys!!!
