"More recruits with criminal records, including felony convictions, are being allowed to join the Army and Marine Corps as the armed services cope with a dwindling pool of volunteers during wartime."...

"'Our armed forces are under incredible strain and the only way that they can fill their recruiting quotas is by lowering their standards,' said Rep. Martin T. Meehan, Massachusetts Democrat'"

You will also recall that while Danzig was SecNav, he worked tirelessly to the eliminate the "zero defect" mentality.

Like I said believe me or not.

I don't.

I don't have to convince anyone.

You're right, and you're doing a good job.

I'm just discussing my experiences, and how they relate to the discussion.

You're experiences mean nothing out of context. I've met lots of guys like you, in and out of the service, and I think you're a phony wannabe who is blowin' smoke. Take a hike, chump.

Sounds like you've already had a hard being a pogue dirty leg. 18E, shall I tap out some morse for you while I'm at it shitbird. Now run along and polish your good conduct medals, and make sure your uniform is nice and starched for those frequent rear echelon inspections dirtbag. Make sure the flag is on the pole too. 35D ha! May as well be a 71L.

Hey, ass. Free Republic is a pro-military forum. If you show up here and start bashing members of our military, regardless of MOS, your stay here will be short.

The only difference these days between convicted felons and the average enlisted soldier, is the felons got caught. I know...

I understand opinions are like assholes, but exactly what are you trying to say? My son left for boot camp (Ft. Knox) two weeks ago and he's an honorable young man, not what you just described above. I couldn't be more proud of him. After basic he's off to AIT and then jump school. While you are entitled to speak freely take the foot out of your mouth before you do.

That means he's about to tackle Heartbreak, Agony and Misery. Godspeed to your son.

"Why should anyone on this forum believe anything anyone says? Like I said believe it or not."

" You can either believe me or not. If your life is so boring you have nothing better to do than research others postings "

"Like I said believe me or not. I don't have to convince anyone.

"How would you like me to respond? You can either believe me or not."

"People that don't believe things like this go on in an organization with hundreds of thousands of members are fooling themselves. I've been there and seen it first hand. So go F**k yourself."

"Whatever Eisenhower"

Congratulations to your son, especially for going Airborne, but I wouldn't pay much attention to anything that the dramatically named "domicile of doom" says. As his above quotes show, he is simply a bomb thrower with no facts.

The part where he claims to be a 18E Special Forces Communications Sergeant just pisses me off.

Of course he also claims to have 'been an enlisted soldier recently', 'been in college during the Clinton years', 'been in prison recently' and 'work in IT/telecom'.

We've had a few dishonorable whackos claim to be Spec Ops, including that 'Captain Mike' guy who was on stage with Hannity in LA....

I hate 'em: stolen honor....

This is a post that domicile of death responded to, on another thread, about prison rape.

***In reality it would not take much to target someone then gang rape them. Three guys with a heavy object could knock someone silly then do their business on him. A blanket could be used to restrain someone just as easily as a few t-shirts and a shank. All that has to happen is someone get caught looking the other way and they are done.***

domicile of doom answered with this:
"For those that threatened it on me, I replied with a brief statement. "I get out before you, and if you do anything to me, then whatever life you were thinking of going to when you get out will no longer exist."

Then domicile of doom posts this on this thread:
"The only difference these days between convicted felons and the average enlisted soldier, is the felons got caught. I know I spent a few years enlisted recently and there is all manner of stuff going on in the Army all the time. I saw drug dealers on post, child molesters in my unit,

Whether he was in the military or not, I don't know, but I do think that his anger, and his unfounded attacks on the military give evidence that he has not had what would be considered a successful relationship with military service.

Absolutely if they have lived clean since they got out of prison. I have no problem with that.

I guess it matters what you do when drinking, huh? These articles are written to hurt morale, recruiting and the image of the military in the eyes of the public. Search it and you'll find the first few dozen hits bring up these disparaging stories.

If you will follow the link above you will find that the Army alone enlisted 175,000 Soldiers in 2006. According to the story 906 felony waivers were given and some recruits got more than 1. Let's say that all 906 were given individually. That means that a fraction of 1% percentage point of those recruits have felony waivers.

Agenda anyone?

Don't mind the troll. I doubt he even ever served.

Also, kudos to your son. You have every right to be beaming with pride. If you'd like, I'd be happy to dig up my piece on "what I learned to make Basic Training Easier" I wrote when I went through it back in the 90's. It's just some simple pieces of advice that you could possibly print out and include in a letter to him. Let me know and I can freepmail it to you.

Domicileofdoom has been banned, but I don’t know why.

I’ve been looking in on his postings occasionally to see if the phony Green Beret thing would get him, but now he is banned, if you learn anything please tell me.
