It looks like an early formula-1 type racer.

You're going to have to duke it out w/Ernest and I to get any of these.

He thinks he'll win.

I showed him, though.

Thank you for the information. I have no time or inclination to do restorations but I happened across a tidbit of information from an old railroader. He told me that when a train derailed they would simply trench and push everything in and cover it. Keeping the line open was more important than a few cars. He pointed out a spot where he had buried a couple dozen new Cadillacs, some with little or no damage. He started with the railroad in '57 and mentioned that communication was still by telegraph so it was probably around the early '60s.

I wondered how long this had been the practice and if there are restorable treasures buried out there.

When I was growing up, my dad's friend bought several truck loads of cars owned by some elderly people who at one time hoped to stop cars from being a way of life. He hauled them to his farm in southern Michigan. Also, does anyone recall "King Stutz Tomb"?

That's one hell of a barn. How could anyone possibly miss that before purchasing the property?

Did you notice the picture of what appears to be the door of the "barn"? It was welded shut. Hmmmmmm.

Great post. I think I saw a 32 Ford 2 door sedan in there. I can't believe some of the comments about the condition of the cars. This vehicle was put in a container and buried underground for years...

Very few of the cars were particulary expensive or rare 25-30 years ago -- especially in Europe. A lot of 4 cylinder sports cars that would have gone for under $1000 when they were about 10-15 years old.

Many of those cars were maintenance nightmares.

Also, European laws tend to discourage driving older cars, so some might have failed inspection.

Personally, I'm surprised there is any working electrical service within 10 miles of that barn -- considering the quantity of Lucas Electric parts. Just having that many Lucas products in one place should work like an EMP.
