Eager to find new customers among the nation's burgeoning ranks of Hispanic immigrants, U.S. banks are increasingly offering checking accounts, money transfer services and mortgages that don't require a Social Security number. Other issuers offer credit cards, but Bank of America is the first major credit card company to step into the arena.

Los Angeles County, home to the largest concentration of illegal immigrants in the U.S..

Providing public service to illegal immigrants is/will be a huge opportunity for some major businesses as the immigration issue becomes more politically heated. And with more services/support provided to illegals comes more $$$ in the bank. Then it will be politically accepted and become a non-issue.

Money talks. We're doomed.

Foreigners have deposited billions of dollars in the US banking system, and they also borrow billions from US banks. None of them have Social Security numbers, since they are not American citizens. Therefore, Bank of America is just doing more business with foreigners, in order to make more profits (it's a free market, thankfully).

It isn't the bank's job to determine whether it's customers are illegal aliens, have commited adultery, have shoplifted, or have multiple speeding tickets.

But then again,
If the govt isn't going to do anything about illegal immigration,
why would they do anything about BOA assisting with illegal immigration?

I poked around on their website, and according to the credit application, the government requires them to get your ssn. You can't complete an online credit app without giving it.
So there must be more to this story than we're getting. At least, you can't do it online.

You guys don't get it. The large corporations have already decided that the North American Union is a reality. Goodbye borders, goodbye national identity, hello Pedro.

In the mean time those same illegal immigrants that are getting $5000 credit cards are still going to the hospitals and getting medical care and not paying one dime for it.

". People are blaming a bank for going after money? That's capitalism folks"

Good point. You're right.

I noticed Wal Mart offers to send money to Mexico. The charge is $9.95

"Stop bashing a bank for doing it's job." They are using a double standard. Arab terrorists could pass for Mexicans. It is the fault of the government they are here. BofA is making the matter worse.

I have just signed the petition. I will be calling them tomorrow. When I go to my local branch, I am tired of standing behind an illegal alien (opening a new account) who has no damn business even being in this country. I have 8 accounts at BOA (business and personal) and I put ALOT of money into this bank. I had a runin with the local manager about 3 months ago. I ended up storming out of the bank and on my way out I told here to "hire some damn Americans in here". Most of the tellers were foreigners. I been with BOA for 10 years now but I have had enough of BOA.

You have my empathy. I'm truly wondering if there is a bank or lending institution left which doesn't cater to the illegals. I'm looking for another bank myself (and I'm not with BoA) but I haven't found a bank yet that doesn't cater to the illegals.

The Bank 'BB&T' or something close to that..has my support. The owner of that bank actually decided that his bank would not make any loans to any developers that obtained the property through eminent domain (Kelo)
Does anyone know the exact name of the bank I'm talking about??

Fine with me. Let the bank try it. And then when they end up losing incredible amounts of money because of the high number of credit risks who'll skip out of their obligations the bank will have learned a lesson.

BB&T (standing for "Branch Banking and Trust") is a major bank, so that's likely the one you're talking about. I hadn't heard the story regarding Kelo-seized property, but since BB&T is public, perhaps it was the CEO who announced that policy, or maybe a different bank. Please post details if you find them!

Wanna fix the immigration problem, then fix it.

We are. We're going after all the capitalist pigs who are violating the laws -- hiring illegals, renting to illegals, educating illegals, medically supporting illegals, and money-laundering for illegals. The illegals don't like it, they can leave. Any US entity that supports and thereby encourages them should be criminally charged and severely penalized to bankruptcy.

And that's all I've got to say about that!

Damn sheep in this country have scrapie!

Shame I have a mortage with BOA but I can't find a lower % rate or I would change mortage companies.
