DID YOU FEEL IT?

At some point in the past few weeks, a shift occured. ...

Fearing a repeat of the lawlessness and vandalism which occured in January, several groups are banding together to stand in opposition to this group of radicals. A group of Vietnam veterans calling themselves "A Gathering of Eagles" will stand vigil over the Vietnam Wall. Another group, "Move America Forward," will caravan from San Francisco to Washington DC, where they will set up a patriotic counter-rally on the National Mall.

Last week, a Navy officer in Baghdad and a retired soldier began circulating a petition amongst the troops, "The Appeal For Courage," urging Congress to "fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat." Such petitions are rare, but are allowed under DoD directives designed to protect military whistleblowers. For the first few days, their petition garnered little interest. Over the weekend, the number of signatures doubled.

At the same time, blogger NZ Bear established a new advocacy group, "The Victory Caucus." By week's end, his new website had recieved over 100,000 visits, and 3,400 had registered to join their group. If you think this is small potatoes, consider that this is exactly how the left-wing advocacy group MoveOn.org got started in 1998, at the height of President Clinton's impeachment crisis.

Can veterans sign the petition, and if so, does anyone have a link?

Veterans to Protect Vietnam Veterans Memorial from Protesters; Rally in Support of Iraq Troops,Mission

WASHINGTON, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Vietnam veterans will be gathering in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, March 17, 2007, to protect the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall) and other war memorials from desecration by protesters attending a so-called antiwar rally being held that day adjacent to The Wall. The veterans intend to prevent a recurrence of what happened at a similar event on January 27, 2007, when protesters spray-painted the Capitol and spat on a disabled Iraq vet.

"A Gathering of Eagles", as the veterans are calling their effort, is being joined by other patriotic groups including Rolling Thunder, Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), Move America Forward and FreeRepublic.com. Those organizations are encouraging their members and supporters to protect The Wall and to stand up for their brothers and sisters in arms in Iraq.

Looks like there are a lot of fine Americans starting to wake up. To often only the radical scum bags become organized often on non patriotic goals. Perhaps we shall see enough Americans start taking a more active role in countering those groups that have no honorable intentions and do so much harm.
At any rate, gotta hit the rack. Do have a great upcoming day.

Our voices have always been there...perhaps we are finally figuring out how to use them. Collectively. :-)

APPEAL FOR COURAGE

Appeal for Redress

Sign this Appeal.

This site is an Appeal For Redress in support of our mission in Iraq.

An Appeal For Redress is an authorized means for active duty military to submit a grievance to Congress. It can be signed by Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard military personnel.

It is authorized by DoD Directive 1325.6 and DoD Directive 7050.6.

The wording of the Appeal for Redress is:

As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat. I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home. The War in Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring freedom to the Middle East and protect America from further attack.

If you are active duty, reservist or national guard, please Sign this Appeal
.

Most service members fully support the war in Iraq and feel calls to retreat by Congress and attacks by our media on our conduct and mission act to motivate our enemy while demoralizing our support at home, directly increasing the threat we face and resulting in greater American casualties. This Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to Congress to fully support us and actively oppose media attacks on our mission and our morale.

This Appeal will be delivered to members of Congress.

If you can not sign PLEASE forward on to someone who can!

Where it will most likely be ignored. The Military as a voting block has been nullified 3 elections in a row. The clowns that represent us have it down to a science how to send ballots late and then come up with reasons not to count those that come in on time.

Military = about 1% illegal immigrants about 11%-12%

Scary isn't it?

Sorry Tex, but I have to disagree with you. The First time President Bush was elected over Al Gore, it was the military vote in Northwest Florida (Tyndall AFB, Eglin AFB, Pensacola NAS, Duke Field, Hurlburt Field, Whiting Field, and Naval Systems Command, Panama City) that put it over the top. Those fools in the media felt the Democratic voters in Central Florida was enough to give Florida to Al Gore. Boy were they wrong.
