As Senator Clinton prepares to face off with many of her Democratic rivals today, she aligned herself directly with President Bush on the issue of immigration, using a campaign stop in South Florida to highlight a rare point of agreement with an administration that she criticizes at every turn.
Speaking to about 300 community leaders in an area with a large immigrant population, Mrs. Clinton staked out a centrist position on the hot-button topic, saying she supported a "pathway to legalization" for the nation's 11 million to 12 million estimated undocumented immigrants, but only if they waited in line and paid fines. She described her stance as "basically" what the president has proposed.
"I think, on this issue, the president is right," Mrs. Clinton said.
Immigration is one of few areas where Mr. Bush may find common ground with the Democratic Congress, but Mrs. Clinton's frank characterization was unusual in a presidential campaign in which even Republican contenders are distancing themselves from the White House on some issues.
It comes a day before the Democrats gather in Carson City, Nev., for the first candidate forum of the 2008 race. The event could yield the sharpest distinctions yet among a crowded field of hopefuls, but the candidates are not expected to meet face to face. Instead, they will take questions individually from ABC News's George Stephanopoulos, who rose to prominence as a top adviser to President Clinton when he ran for the White House in 1992. The forum will also be missing one of the early front-runners for the nomination, Senator Obama, who will be campaigning in Iowa instead.

I didn't need HilleryRottenClintoon to confirm the obvious.
You got that right. Pres. Bush's policy on immigration just plain sucks.
Politicians of both parties are seeking to give our country to illegals. It seems the only thing they all agree on is selling us out to Mexicans.
It won't be long now before Senator Mrs. Bill Clinton describes herself as a 'compassionate conservative'.
What her Heinous fails to understand (because she has a political tin ear) is that for EVERY favorable word or comment she makes about President Bush, her negatives rise with the far left 'Rat/Moron.Org/Moonbat crowd, who already despise her for voting to authorize the liberation of Iraq.
Her winning the nomination is far from certain, and IF she is nominated her election is not a foregone conclusion unless the GOP falls into the deceptive trap of thinking that by nominating another left/liberal Democrat in RINO clothing (as in Giuliani) they can 'out-Hillary Hillary'.
At least thats what those smiling politicians promised us.

When it's kissing babies time and politicians are smiling,
be afraid, very afraid.
I truly believe Americans do care, but Americans are unable to stop those willing to destroy America at the Federal level. Armed revolt isn't going to be tolerated. Voting for the same people hasn't changed the situation, and voting outside of the two parties is a vote not counted. What is a sane American to do? Americans can only wait and hope there is a straw on the camel's back about to be broken, and illegal immigration may be such a straw. We, Americans, have been left with few if any options.
esy one..that's where the cash is for campaigns...
I am retired and I can get my grass cut very cheaply, which gives me more time to watch TV and ride my exercise cycle . /BIG FAT S
Of the hundreds of social programs, one at the top of the list of programs that the Prez has been trying to abolish for years is a program that teaches adults to speak English...
This program costs the taxpayers a little over 100 million per year...The name of the program escapes me at the moment...
Could be any number of reasons why Bush doesn't want immigrants, legal and illegal to understand our language...And none of them good...
Well at least they both agree with Giuliani...
Homeland security and Domestic issues matter and we shouldn't accept anything less.

This kind of thing reeeeeally makes me believe it's time for a president like Tancredo (or of course, my man Hunter!)
Of course. When it comes to an issue like this, you can always count on both parties to come together to screw over the average American.
Securing this country should be paramount priority number one in the war on terror.
Screw Hitlery and GW, they're both liars and are selling us and our national security out.
Maybe I've seen the movie "Red Dawn" too many times where the Russians and Cubans invaded our country by coming up through mexico, I see the alliance formed between Iran, Venezuala, Cuba, and others having the exact opportunity. All of whom are being heavily armed to the teeth by Russia.
Putin desperately wants to regain superpower status and I wouldn't put it past him to use the previously mentioned countries as proxies against us no differently than Iran used Hezbollah last summer against Israel.
If thousands of illegals can get here, so can thousands of troops.
Am I paranoid? Does anyone else see the clear and present danger leaving our borders unsecured guarded by good folks now afraid to do thier job at the risk of being put on trial and thrown in jail.
America to our pols, quit playing politics with our national security and giving away our tax money to people here illegally who have no right to any of it and use it to seal our borders once and for all.
As we all know, "pathway to legalization" is just code for "amnesty". So what if illegal aliens have to pay a fine/fee? I recently renewed my driver's license and had to pay a fee. The illegal aliens will end up with what they wanted all along, and that is they will be allowed to legally stay in the U.S.
....very probably,Clinton 2 as President for 8 years by 2016.

Hopefully we can circumvent this one !

Unfortunate headline.
Psst. Don't tell slick Willie about the all woman island the Iranian ayatollahs are creating.
Hunter is your man.
Correct it is amnesty by another name. Moreover, unless you secure the border, there will be a flood of more illegals who will be very happy to pay a fine, just like what happened in 1986.
voters are, on the whole, morons
they don't want to be 'educated'
they don't want to be 'persuaded'
they don't want 'intellectual debate'
the majority (!) are influenced by far more simple things:
ridicule, employed by freepers and even reagan, is far more powerful. mark steyn, ann coulter, rush limbaugh are prepared to humiliate the socialists at every turn, but bush and the gop through their confusing actions undermine their support and positions constantly
simple, repetitive soundbites (its the economy, stupid) earns more votes than elite treatises on nuclear proliferation
negative portrayal of opponents (swift boat vets) burns deeply into flip-flop charlatans
aggressive battle for every news cycle prevents the ideas and positions of opponents to cement into the voters thoughts, and provides supporters in the trenches with talking points for contradiction of accusations
this is all rocket science to bush and the gop, because they have failed miserably at politics without the base doing their work. their response? betray the base!
BOHICA.
All of these ppeople need to be housed, clothed, fed etc. and they will need infrastructure such as roads, schools, hospitals, police, etc. They also consume energy. In addition to securing our borders. our entire immigration policy must be reviewed and revised. Legalizing the status of illegals currently here will allow them to bring in even more people through current chain migration policies, e.g., parents, siblings, children, etc.
Bump
That's why we have to derail the Rinos, persuade the misled conservatives who are thinking more about victory than principle, and get a real conservative as our nominee.
While I agree that there is a political agenda at work, i.e., the Dems see illegals and the legalization of their status as a source for future votes and political power [by 2050, one-quarter of the US population will be Hispanic], this issue transcends politics. It has to do with the basic survival of this country and its values. We cannot continue to absorb and assimilate these kinds of numbers.
Thank you for replying. I watched it and allmost fell off my chair. US citizens have to watch this video. Our over populating is bad enough with our legal citizens let alone allowing a bunch of illegals to breed like flies.
And Hillary and Rudy agree with his position.
Whatever benefits we gain in cheap labor, we lose in terms of the costs of support required from our social systems and physical infrastructure. The politicians and business have formed a coalition to keep this going despite the dire long term consequences. If we have an economic downturn, as we surely will, the scope and breadth of the problem will become more evident.
Most of the crapheads on the Hill agree with that position.
The whole bunch needs to be replaced.
Replaced with working men ,not rich lawyers and rich professional politicians.
It appears the whole country had better learn to speak Spanish.
BOHICA.

When it comes to immigration, I'm afraid President Bush, Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain are all on the same page.
