Democratic political strategist James Carville says Al Gore will run for president in 2008, but he fell short of offering his endorsement of that possible campaign.
Carville, appearing Tuesday as a guest on MSNBCs Imus in the Morning program, said Gores desire to run for political office might come, not from his Oscar win, but rather from something more primative.
"Running for president is like having sex, Carville said. "You dont do it once and forget about it. You want to do it again. Hes run for president in 88, he ran for president in 2000. We know he wants to be president and the stars could line up. I suspect he will get into this race.
The CNN analyst, author and former Clinton administration operative, will likely support Sen. Hillary Clinton in the 2008 race, but Carville said he is not formally on board with her team.
"I am not associated with the campaign, but I am sympathetic to it," Carville said. "I love her and I wish her nothing but the best. I think any Democrat can win the general [election], but the primary will be tough for her, and I think she knows that.
As for the Republican field, Carville has a longshot favorite he thinks may impress: former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
"If I was a longshot bettor, I might put two dollars on the nose on him, Carville said. "Ive seen him on television. Hes a little like President Clinton. He likes people; he knows how to relate to people. His father was a preacher. He can talk the talk. Im impressed with this guys political skills.
I dont think he will run. If he does he will have to debate his global warming issue. Something he has yet to do.
Ok but in this case it would be like having sex with Hillary right beside you.
imagine Gore vs. Newt....boy, would that wake a few people up or what?
The horror! The horror!
And I, a middle-aged lady, have all the skills needed to qualify as a prima ballerina for the American Ballet Company. I'm just waiting for the phone to ring.
Bet Gore thinks he can become the left's mirror "Richard Nixon" eh? But hang on, Nixon has enacted far more left-wing policies in his terms than many otehr US Republican presidents, so who knows that a President Gore will end up being one of the most conservative US presidents by policies?
Rush said the Bubba camp is watching Algore's weight for clues.
uh hem, ping.
PLEASE!!!!!
Imagine - Gore and Hillary on stage with Billy in audience!!!
Calling for smiley-popcorn gif!!!
Golum even saying the word "sex" makes my skin crawl, lol.
Poor Mary.
Oh, please, let it be so...I say let's get as many lunatic dems in the race as possible.
Not a hard guess to make, considering Algore's ego, arrogance, and stupidity.
"Running for president is like having sex, Carville said. "You dont do it once and forget about it. You want to do it again."
Unless Her Thighness Hillery is your partner!
Regards, Ivan
Well, that's an interesting analogy.
It reminds me of an old joke: a farm boy was told by his father to take the cow over to a neighboring farm to get it serviced. He didn't know what that meant until he got there. From then on, whenever he heard the word "service", he'd wonder who was getting screwed.
This would be great. He won't get the nomination, but he has such a following right now - like Nader did in 2000 - that I think he can be convinced to run as an independent.
The only question - is he willing to screw the Dems with certain defeat to prove a point?
