Jim, at the risk of being banned, I'm going to tell you how I really feel. If I am banned, I'd first like to thank you for the political home for these many years. It's been nice. And, if I may ask one boon, if you do ban me, leave this post up for others to read, if for no other reason than a favor to a FReeper who was in good standing up until Rudy announced his candidacy.

I find myself unable to remain silent while the owner repeatedly posts hysterical vanities, confuses political terms (socialism has zip to do with gay rights Jim) and resorts to lame and juvenile insults (Rooty tooty fresh and fruity) knowing that since he's the boss that no one will challenge him on it.

Over what? A Republican candidate for his party's nomination for the upcoming presidential election. Not just any candidate, but a good man who did wonders for our nation's largest city. He's not a liberal no matter how many times you claim he's a liberal. He's not a socialist no matter how many times you claim he's a socialist. He's not the anti-Christ Jim, he's really not.

He's a tried and proven executive, but of course results are now flippantly poo-pooed with a Musolini comparison about making the trains run on time. I guess when you don't like someone, they're damned if they do, and damned if they don't. If the trains had been late you'd hammer on the lack of efficiency under his watch. The trains ran on time, so it's because he ruled with an iron fist.

If there is any bright light in any of this, it's that you inadvertantly encourage me in that it's obvious that you really do believe Rudy is going to be the nominee unless something miraculous happens. I respect that you're trying to work that miracle for your guy, but I'm encouraged that you seem to believe that it's going to take a miracle.

One final note, just so we're clear. If by some chance we (those who have been supporting Rudy) are proven to have been wrong about Rudy at some future date, it's just that, we were wrong. We're not closet socialists seeking to undermine America. We're not secretly on Hillary's payroll, or recieving sexual favors from prostitutes hired by Dick Morris. We're not anti-Republican, or anti-American. We're just wrong. Whether you want to admit it or not, every candidate, Duncan Hunter included is an unknown quantity until he actually sits in the oval office.

Should you work your miracle, and Hunter send us into a recession as I fear he would, I know that you too will have the stones to stand up and say you were wrong.

If you approve of abortion on demand, new campaign finance laws, lax immigration policies and more gun control laws Rudy is your man. He is not my choice by a long shot. Neither are McCain or Romney.

If you wish for others to read your post more widely, go ahead and post it as a "vanity." That would be interesting.

Jim, at the risk of being banned, I'm going to tell you how I really feel

You've been listening to a small minority of pro-Rudy posters who make it seem like they are unable to post pro-Rudy opinions on FR, which is nonsense, given the number of Rudy threads they post every day.

The only bannings I have seen are for cause - repeated violations of forum rules, as well as making completely unsubstantiated and unlinked allegations against another candidate. I have seen bitching about FR that normally is only seen on anti-freep sites. Yet those people are still posting.

JimRob has been more than forthcoming in allowing freewheeling debate at this point in the nomination process. This tends to be full-contact season. Too bad some folks try to turn that into martrydom - especially when those folks hardly have clean hands themselves.

What a superb post. Thank you for saying what so many have been thinking over the last few days as the words thrown around like so much confetti have been juvenile, to say the least.

Thank you for saying what I and others have been thinking. I stand with you and if you are banned for stating what you and a lot of us believe, then I want to be banned as well.

I support Rudy and will continue to support Rudy and if that means I get banned, then so be it. Not going to change my support and frankly, all the trashing has made my support for Rudy even stronger having to defend some of the most ridiculous charges and doing the research to refute.

Proud member of Team Rudy and of The Republican Party!

"confuses political terms (socialism has zip to do with gay rights Jim) "

Melas, that is a very naive statement This link and an associated quote will quickly prove my point: http://www.cpusa.org/article/archive/49/ "The following statement was issued June 21 by the Communist Party USA and Young Communist League in honor of Pride Month. The month of June has been designated as Pride Month in celebration of the struggles and achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the United States."

BZZZT!!! Wrongo! The promotion of gay rights as a way to break down the family and make the world ready for socialism was first proposed by communist Antonio Gramsci in the 1920s. It has been a key tenet of Cultural Marxism ever since.
