No one should have to suffer the indignity of a moral lecture from Sen. John Kerry as did fellow Missourian Sam Fox at hearings before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on his nomination for Belgium ambassador.
Given Kerry's history of self-indulgence and hubris, it should come as no surprise that he would forget his proper role in the hearings -- as a senator considering the nominee's qualifications and fitness -- and turn the proceedings into an embarrassing spectacle about himself.
Kerry was not about to forego this opportunity to transfer his unquenched hostility against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth to Mr. Fox, who, it turns out, had donated $50,000 to that group during the 2004 presidential race.
Though Fox received "glowing tributes" from a number of senators, Kerry didn't even try to mask his anger. He said, "I assume that you believe that the truth in public life is important? Might I ask you what your opinion is with respect to the state of American politics as regards the politics of personal destruction?"
Unfortunately, perhaps because he didn't anticipate that Kerry would stoop so low as to turn his confirmation hearings into a public vendetta and therapy session, Fox conceded that all 527 groups, like the Swiftees, are "mean and destructive" and "smearing lies." But he justified his contribution on the grounds that both sides engage in negative campaigning and it would be political suicide for one side to quit doing it while the other continued.

The POS just cannot stand the light of truth when it shines on him, like the rest of the rotten anti-American libs. Choke on it Kerry, you traitorous bastard.
Evidently Fox sat there and took it. I wouldn't have!
Kerry and Kennedy's continued presence in the Senate makes me wonder if the people of Massachusetts care about truth, morality and value of honest government.

Well, most of them are liberals. That explains alot. But, yes, it is hard to imagine ANYONE with any patriotic pride, would support these filthy traitorous scum...both of them are major reprobates.
Yeah, but you contributed to the side that no longer controls the Senate. I'd say that about the only way Mr. Fox is going to make it to Brussels is if he buys a ticket on TWA. He should have decided he wanted to be an ambassador before the 2006 election.
Still, it was probably the best money Mr. Fox ever spent. It was for my meager contribution.
Oh it definitely went a long way towards killing whatever slim chance Kerry every had of winning. And for that we can all be grateful. But I'll bet the SOB couldn't believe his luck when Mr. Fox showed up before him in committee.
Those two are most definately the worst case scenario.I can't think of two people less deserving of the office they hold.
I'm sure Mr.Fox's feeling were hurt by Kerry's tirade-NOT.
The 'Rats don't need 527s. They have CBS News to do their dirty work.
"Oh, I don't know, Lurch. Lied about your war record lately?"
Maybe not. But he's never going to get to be called Mr. Ambassador now.
Sam Fox ... I checked him out and he's a fine Jewish Republican businessman and fundraiser for Republicans. He also has philanthropic interests. What has Kerry ever done with his life? Fox operates a couple manufacturing companies. He creates jobs. He pays taxes. John Kerry is just a useless lawyer/hack/politico
No disputing that.
