CA: State senator(D) renews health care bill (REAL gov run socialized medicine bill)
ContraCostaTimes ^ | March 2, 2007 | Mike Zapler

If legislative Democrats had their way, California might well be on its way to a government-run health care system. Both houses of the Legislature passed a bill last year to create a so-called "single-payer" system, only to have Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger veto it.

Surrounded by union supporters and fellow liberal lawmakers, the leader of the single-payer movement, Sen. Sheila Kuehl, D-Santa Monica, said Tuesday that she will try again.

Kuehl's central goal in Senate Bill 840 is to eliminate health insurance companies -- which she says ring up excessive profits and offer substandard coverage -- from the system. Instead, she would create a new state mega-agency to administer health care to all residents -- deciding what types of treatments and technology to employ and how much to pay doctors and hospitals.

THIS is why we need Arnold in CA and Republican presidents, to foil the Dems Marxist dictatorial control plans for us.

Those who still bash Arnold should consider, that Angelides would already have signed this dreadful bill, he said he would.

"What would McClintock Do?"

Who cares, since he never even managed to win the Lt Gov position and clearly had and has even less chance than that to become governor.

But if it hadn't been for Arnold, we would now have either Bustamante or Angelides.

Arnold's healthcare proposal, while it has its flaws, is NOT a single payer government run socialized medicine healthcare that the Dems are pushing, and which Arnold vetoed before and will veto again.

Yes, she's the leader, in fact is probably the only one right now, promoting a single-payer (i.e., govnernment) health system.

Angelides would already have signed this dreadful bill

The question isn't what would the Weasel have done but rather what would a conservative, Republican governor have done if the ship of CAGOP fools hadn't closed the Republican primary and blindly supported an Austrian liberal .

The CAGOP leadership has screwed California Republicans and no amount of spin can hide the dirty deed. The CAGOP enabled a European liberal and now must now live with all his baggage.

Arnold's healthcare proposal, while it has its flaws,

Has flaws??? ROFL. You're a piece of work, FO.
$11 Billion in new taxes, a program that makes Hillary jealous, and you say it has it's flaws. Unbelievable.

This is so easy. Everybody that wants government run health care should be able to have it! But, it would only be paid for by those join and they would have to stay in the program for a year. Everybody else would be responsible for their own protection. See, it`s not to hard to figure out.

Why not just nationalize the insurance companies and keep the profits? Ooops, I forgot, CA is a state, not a nation.

Unbelievable.

If the responses were believable I'd advise all to be afraid. Be very afraid.

Fortunately, for all conservatives on FR, the account is what the account is. Think of the effort we'd have to expend to import a Democrat idiot as a foil.

I, for one, am fond of our present arrangement. Long live our token minority.

Actually the CA Legislature PASSED this exact bill last year. It didn't become law, because Arnold vetoed it.

As one who has frequently said that "at least Arnold is better than Davis, Bustamante, or Angelides," I'm still terribly disappointed with Schwarzenegger.

On the other hand, it doesn't matter what McClintock would do, because he can't get elected to statewide office in the People's Republic of California.
