A Pakistani immigrant who hosted fundraisers for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is being sought by the FBI on allegations that he funneled illegal contributions to Clinton's political action committee and to Sen. Barbara Boxer's 2004 re-election campaign.

Authorities say Northridge, Calif., businessman Abdul Rehman Jinnah, 56, fled the country shortly after being indicted on charges of engineering more than $50,000 in illegal donations to the Democratic committees. A business associate charged as Jinnah's co-conspirator has entered a guilty plea and is scheduled to be sentenced in Los Angeles next week.

...The case has transformed Jinnah from a political point man on Pakistani issues, a man often photographed next to foreign dignitaries and U.S. leaders, into a fugitive with his mug shot on the FBI's most-wanted list.

It's always a wonder why the recipients themselves of illegal campaign contributions aren't held liable.

They ARE held liable - - if they are Republicans. Even if Republicans are merely SUSPECTED of shady dealings they are raided and indicted, usually around election time. Ask Curt Weldon. The FBI - - still apparently controlled by the Clintons - - made sure Weldon was defeated in order to quiet all the talk about Bill Clinton's irreversible damage to national security during his term. (The Clintons put a simple scumbag named Joe Sestak in that seat. The whole sordid tale is HERE.)

Meanwhile, nothing much seems to be happening with William "Cold Cash" Jefferson (Democrat, Louisiana). Nothing will happen to Hillary or Boxer, either. Maybe they will ultimately be treated as harshly as, say, Sandy Berger, who pled guilty to stealing and destroying sensitive classified documents from the National Archives.

Funny, but when I twice voted for George W. Bush it never occurred to me that he would preside over, and actually enable, one of the most corrupt Justice Departments in the history of the United States. It is an absolute disgrace - - makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Well, isn't that special. Of course the case was handled with discretion (including trying to hide the identity of the recipients).

I'm sure it would have been handled the same way if the recipient was a Republican (NOT).

Disgraced political fund-raiser Norman Hsu - a major donor for Hillary Rodham Clinton and other Democrats - was a wanted man again after he failed to show up for court yesterday, and a judge issued a new warrant for his arrest.

Hsu, whose criminal past has roiled the campaigns of presidential candidates, was scheduled to ask a judge to cut in half the $2 million bail he posted last week when he turned himself in after spending 15 years on the lam from a felony theft conviction.

Instead, San Mateo Superior Court Judge Robert Foiles ordered Hsu's bail forfeited to the county and issued a new arrest warrant.
