It's not really about faggot or not faggot. Ann's point is about the freedom of speech which we have lost so much of in recent years. Think of everything people can no longer say. Her point is much larger than Breck boy.

A lot of the applause on this thread seems to be predicated on the justification that "Libs do it, so why can't we, nyah, nyah, take that you PC wussies, so there!"

But can someone please explain to me how crass & juvenile (not to mention thoroughly lame) insults lobbed at the opposition helps conservatism here?

Of all the issues addressed at CPAC this week, you can bet that this is the one statement that will get the most press. In fact, this will probably be the only statement that most americans ever hear about this event.

Look, I can certainly understand how someone can get carried away in front of an audience of like-minded friends (outside of FR, that's a very rare milieu for conservatives in this country.) But hurling childish ad hominems while onstage only serves to make the whole ideology look mean & vacuous to the rest of the world.

(Sigh).Will somebody please remind Ann again that the target market for conservatism is not confined to seventh grade prep school boys?
