On Ann Coulter - Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic. (conservatives respond)

Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.

I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, who’s shocked? She obviously can’t behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if it’s unflattering.

(For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s audio of her calling John Edwards a “faggot” at CPAC today.)

---

Michelle Malkin -

***4:15pm update***

Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."

A smattering of laughter.

Not from this corner.

Crickets chirping.

---

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -

Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gore’s green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.

Here’s what she said.

“I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”

I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.

Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.

Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.

It is really sad when two beauties like these have to show the piddle pants republicans how to be men.

Ouch!! But sometimes it has to be done LOL!

This was a speech before CPAC. You know she "thought it through" before saying it; she just doesn't care.

I'm not a big Ann Coulter fan but if a Dem backer would have said that about a Pubbie this would be a non-news item.

Ann Coulter has no capacity whatsoever as a representative of the GOP, or conservatives for that matter.

It's funny. I have heard Ann speak several times in person. And it is surprising, given the amount of controversy she generates, that her speeches tend to be very...boring.

Yes, I suppose she did think it through, which validates the criticisms from the conservative pundits. She doesn't care about the trouble this presents for Romney or the GOP -- she only cares that she can, once again, make herself the eye of the storm.

Exactly, in fact they could have went on a 40 minute rant on orders of magnitude more threatening than Ann has ever been able to muster up, and it would pass a nothing.

I guess people have different views of CPAC. I had never been and wanted to go. I saw it as akin to a 'rock festival' of the luminaries I like.

Lets put it all into context, they made entire movies out of guys like CJ & the Fish yelling 'whats that spell?' and other such nonsense :-)

my neighbor went off on me last night about the Iraq war.

Hey Ken. Be a man. Tell your neighbor to kiss your ass and walk away. Tell him you don't give a rat's ass about his opinion.

Hillary Clinton and others have made worse statements, including racial slurs. Guess what? No uproar. No apologies.

I say that irregardless of your or my leanings on Ann, this is a huge non-event for the Gop or Romney (your guy right now?)

BTW, my early horse is Duncan Hunter, but us Indians can jump horses on the run you know! ;)

I have never once claimed to be a "conservative" here on Free Republic...

I have no problem with Coulter's comments. In fact, I applaud them.

Political correctness is killing this country and it is time to get mean with some of these people.

We are in a war that is more than just bombs and bullets in some foreign land. It is here.

It is not going to be won by polite conversation with George Stephanopolous or Tim Russert on television because people like them are part of the problem.

I am sick of the "faggots" corrupting children in the schools...

The druggies, like the sex perverts can only perpetuate an ever increasing market for their filth by molesting the minds and bodies of the young ones...

Coulter is right on the money. I don't care what the "faggots" think.

See in your little P.C. world its OK for the Left to go on a rant about the right, but God forbid if someone from the right ever hurls an insult back. That is when you get your panties in a wad!

LOL, not at all. You see, some of us have come to the realization that party politics is not much different than sports fans. You have your team, they have their team. And in between the namecalling the issues are lost. Sure Coulter is good at riling up the left, just as some on the left are good at riling up the right. But in the midst of it, those of us that are limited government conservatives and could give a damn less about what programs are instituted by either party just sit back and laugh at the absolute inanity of it all.

We're all going to end up in rehab at this rate.

Well, at least those of us in the reeducation camps will have good company.

Interesting how many here would be the guards...

Well, unless you have evidence to the contrary, implying that Edwards is gay is a lie.

And, unless you have evidence to the contrary, implying that the Joisey Goils' husbands were planning to divorce them is a lie. She never implied Edwards is gay nor a divorce was looming for the Jersey Girls.

What she said about the JGs was "And by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies?" That's not an implication of a looming divorce. That's questioning the justification that they needed so much more money than initially offered for their loss.
