Baby comes as shock The mother didn't know she was pregnant until she had carried the fetus to full term. By SCOTT MARTINDALE THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER
ORANGE April Branum went to her local emergency room Monday night complaining of stomach pain and emerged with the biggest shock of her life. She was pregnant with a full-term fetus.
Doctors, who discovered the baby when they took X-rays of her abdominal area, immediately sent Branum to UCI Medical Center in Orange for prenatal testing.
The fetus's lungs were fully developed, the heartbeat was strong, and no defects were detected. The baby was ready to be delivered.
Two days later, the first-time mother gave birth by C-section to a healthy, 7-pound, 7-ounce boy named Walter Scott Edwards III.
"Usually you can tell if you're pregnant, but with me, I couldn't tell," the 39-year-old Garden Grove resident said Thursday, pointing to her belly and explaining that, at about 420 pounds, she was so large that no one including herself could tell she had carried a baby to term.

Let me guess--she has an eating disorder. No, wait, she's "always been big-boned". No, hold on, it's a thyroid condition...
What a disgraceful person, letting herself get to this size. She should be arrested for pre-natal child endangerment.

"She should be arrested for pre-natal child endangerment."
Um... she didn't know she was pregnant.
And some people can't help their size.
Meanwhile, this is truly a miracle baby. In the sense of, what a miracle that some guy was able to, um, "perform," given the circumstances. And reach, if you catch my drift. I really don't understand the physics of this situation... and am not sure I want to.

The incredible thing is that she managed to get pregnant in the first place. It must have taken an expedition...

even at full term they still are calling it a "fetus". Nice style guide in that news room.

Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye, when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." (Matthew 7:1-5).

Which, friends and neighbors, implies she didn't notice she'd missed nine periods.
Which somehow suggests that ordinary hygiene doesn't apply in her case. And now I shall hum loudly and go someplace else so as to avoid further conjecture.

Another news story today of a 300plus pound woman from China giving birth to a 13 plus pound baby.
Docs claim she may have consumed to many nutrients.
I am use to obese American women but hard to imagine what you usually visualize Chinese as more petite bieng obese.

Aren't you being a little hard on her, Dark? Maybe she has a culmination of problems that lead to her obesity. She didn't endanger the child on purpose. I can only hope for her sons sake that she gets the help she needs to lose the weight.
Kinda surprises me that she has a love life though. I hope daddy is still somewhere around.

That's the nastiest thing I've read in awhile. That said, the story notes that she hadn't had her, ah, time of the month, in about two years.

Actually, the Register is one of the saner rags in Kalifornistan. It's not what it used to be, though.
