Spear-Chucking Chimps .....(implications for human evolution ? NOT)
Human Events ^ | 03/07/2007 | Joseph Farah

Posted on 03/07/2007 7:33:21 AM PST by IrishMike

The scientific journal Current Biology reports chimpanzees in Senegal regularly fashion wooden spears and hunt other primates with them, an observation, the report's authors say, that could have implications for human evolution.

Let's assume, for a moment, that the observations of researchers Jill Pruetz and Paco Bertolani are accurate and unaffected by their own obvious faith in the evolutionary creed.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that chimps might make primitive, little spears. It was the evolutionary scientists who taught us a generation ago that the only difference between man and other animals was that we used tools. I never bought that either.

Personally, I think the difference between man and other animals is that we are made in the image of God. That's my belief. You don't have to agree with me, but I think there is considerably more evidence to support my view than the view that life arose spontaneously from non-life and then evolved into higher life forms.

..........................

Let the evolutionists isolate these chimps and do whatever they want to them, change their environment, let them watch "Tarzan" movies, allow them to listen to self-empowerment CDs, permit them to interact with people. Do this for generations. You know what you will have when you're all done? Chimps.

You can teach them to ride bicycles. You can dress them up. You can even teach them to use some simple tools. But, at the end of the day, they're still going to be chimps. Their DNA will be no different, their molecular biology unaffected.

And, after that experiment, the people who believe in evolution are probably still going to believe in evolution. But, no matter what they believe, they can't change the fact that they, too, are made in the image of God.

Spear-Chucking Chimps .....(implications for human evolution ? NOT)

People see their own personal religion in everything.

The initial inaccuracy is the word "chucking". They use the spears to stab, not to throw.

I assume from your screen name that you're a Navy guy (landing ship medium)? My dad was on one of those in WWII. He was waiting on Okinawa before the invasion of Japan when they got word about Hiroshima. Except for the nuke, I might not be here today.

Evidence?!

There is ZERO evidence supporting creationism.

The evidence supporting evolution is unassailable.

You religious nut-cases give Conservatism a bad name.

First, of all you gotta figure out what they mean by "hunt"
Does it mean, hunt to eat, hunt to hurt, hunt for fun, or
just throw a "spear" at some other member of their group?

Also, they hunt other primates? Does that mean, other non
chimps primates?

Is it always the same type of spear, or do they change them
around? Is there any sign of development in their technique?
Do they teach their offspring how to make spears?

Sea otters use rocks to bash open the shells of other
sea creatures? Isn't that a tool? Does that mean I am closer
to a sea otter than say a chimp because I use hammers, but
not spears? Parasol ants are called that because they
cut leaves to the shape of parasols for their use...
Ants harvest aphids for a secreted substance
...are they closer to human farmers than human city dwellers?
Bees live in collective organisations, are they closer
to communists than capitalists? Beavers build huge dams,
which are fairly complicated and large at times, are they
closer to architects than say spear makers are?
All of the marvelous traits of our animal friends could
be interpreted in the light of biological differences, but it doesn't
necessarily indicate any type of evolutionary connection.

My, my, my but are we not a triffle testy here today !
I'm a union member, son of union democrat parents, retired civil servants to boot.
I didn't evolove into a right wing nut-case conservative.
I realized the difference between Democrat and Republicans policies as a member of the military when I saw first hand what Jummah Carter accomplished (nothing) and again saw what Ron Regan accomplished (ended the cold war etc etc etc...).
I became interested in politics, and never voted non republican / conservative in my life.
I an not a registered Republican, I am a registered conservative (there is a difference in NY).

A religious nut-case ????
Why ????
Because I don't believe spear carrying chimps will land on the moon or develop nuclear weapons in the next couple hundred thousand years !!!!!

Once they learn how to open a can of cat food all hope is lost.

At that point what do they need us for?

"chimpanzees in Senegal regularly fashion wooden spears and hunt other primates with them"

Uh Oh! You know what this means. Every liberal chimp is gonna be calling for more Spear-Control laws. Then, only law-abiding chimps won't have spears to protect their families.

Read "Darwin's Black Box" and get back to us. There's huge problems with evolution, evidentiary as well as theoretical problems that make it ridiculous to "believe" in.

OTOH, the book offers powerful scientific evidence of intelligent design which is quite consistent with a creationist view of the world.

signed,

proud religious nut-case

Setting aside both the critical reviews of Mr. Behe's book, and Mr. Behe's own acceptance of common descent, perhaps you could provide an example of something of natural origin that you consider not to have been the product of intelligent design.

Joseph Farah is right on the money here.

The Democrats and other secular radicals who hate the Bible cannot stand the fact that God said He created man in His image, after His likeness.

It is a deep hatred for the God of the Bible that motivates almost everything that liberals think and do.

The public school is the liberal's indoctrination camp and the destruction of Christian faith is their ultimate goal.

He also liked to go inside the "Tee-pee," lift it up with one paw and walk around. I think he was trying very hard to evolve into a turtle.

I am not making this up or exaggerating it.

Wow; I am really not convinced by your argument. Incidentally; your post is the written equivalent of running into a ball room and throwing a turd into the punch bowl.

Instead of initiating your argument with insults you might try expressing your point of view rationally. Unless your goal is to alienate others from your point of view.
