Check out Fred Thompson's voting record on abortion. Thompson refused to affirmed Roe. He may not be as conservatvie as I like, but he sure is a heck of a lot better than what we have now.

No, no. He's competent and has experience.

You want a nobody who says all the right things.

Like Jimmy Carter.

The ideologues out there are looking for Mr. Perfect and he doesn't exist. Anyone who even talks about running gets trashed around here. Yes, it is useful to identify candidates and their stands on issues but the venom is rather startling isn't it? Fred is already being called RINO and I'm not sure what that term means any more.

Do you?

And you better watch who you call pro-abortion, you little weasel.

Okay. I'll call them what they are. Abortionists.

I think your tag line helped figure out what your point was. I was making my point, not agreeing with anything you were saying.

"I'd vote for Fred before I'd vote for ANY - ANY of the current candidate names mentioned:"

DITTO....

Like it or not, Rudy Folks, this guy is Ronald Reagan, Part Deux...

And he is about the only candidate running that the Hillary Hate Machine cannot chew up and spit out with ease...

Thank you very much for that information.

The idea is to bring together all wings of the GOP.

Fred could do that. Giuliani NEVER will.

Yes, it means Republican In Name Only; I take that to mean people who are conservatives who aren't really Republicans, but are just using the GOP because they can't elect anybody in a party of their own.

Maybe i didn't keep real close tabs on the 2000 election...but i seem to remeber McCain had a lot of conservative support going into the elections...but the powers that be in the RNC decided GW was the man and he had huge backing behind the scenes...it took Limbaugh off guard (no, Rush was not a McCain supporter) also...i remember many callers and solid conservatives having reservations about GW....my point is that many solid conservatives were backing McCain in 2000....i don't fault Fred for that.

Am i wrong in this?...i don't have specifics but that is they way it played out in my memory.....i may be all wrong.

Is there anybody good enough to earn your support? I swear with your stated criteria, I'm beginning to wonder if George Washington himself would make the cut.

Here's what's funny. They'll call somebody who reflexively supports the GOP a RINO. Follow me on this: How can a Republican in Name Only be someone who doesn't abandon Republicans for not being pure enough?!?!?

Like this?

"If McCain-Feingold passes, it will not have happened if it weren't for Fred Thompson," said McCain's chief of staff, Mark Salter in 2001.

There are some "wings" of the GOP that have no intention of every coming "together."

""Fred Thompson" and "pro-choice."

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Dummer than a sack of rocks...

If you search "Fred Thompson" "pro-choice" you get 13K hits, if you search "Fred Thompson" "pro-life" you get 19K hits.

The fact is his voting record has been pro-life.

If Jesus himself was running, some on here would be posting about how he wore dresses and hung around with a bunch of men all the time.

McCain died among conservatives after NH. In fact, he depended heavily on Dem crossover votes in a number of key states.
