Other than tax cuts, the biggest domestic issue of the 2004 election was President Bush's support of a Constitutional Amendment to define marriage as being between a man and a woman. Unfortunately, Rudy Giuliani has taken a "Kerryesque" position on gay marriage.
Although Rudy, like John Kerry, has said that marriage should remain between a man and a woman, he also supports civil unions, "marched in gay-pride parades" ...dressed up in drag on national television for a skit on Saturday Night Live (and moved in with a) wealthy gay couple" after his divorce. He also very vocally opposed running on a gay marriage amendment:
His thoughts on the gay-marriage amendment? "I don't think you should run a campaign on this issue," he told the Daily News earlier this month. "I think it would be a mistake for anybody to run a campaign on it -- the Democrats, the president, or anybody else."

The former mayor, who Vice President Cheney joked the other night is after his job, vigorously defended the President on his post-9/11 leadership but made clear he disagrees with Bush's proposal to rewrite the Constitution to outlaw gays and lesbians from tying the knot.
"I don't think it's ripe for decision at this point," he said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
"I certainly wouldn't support [a ban] at this time," added Giuliani..."
Although Rudy may grudgingly say he doesn't support gay marriage (and it would be political suicide for him to do otherwise), where he really stands on the issue is an open question.

No, ideologically Rudy definitely does not represent the base of the Republican party. Neither does Newt, Romney or McCain for that matter. Hunter is the only one and upon the mention of his name there is a collective, "Who?"
So the base will put up their ideologue and hopefully win the primary with him. And if the ideologue loses to McCain or Rudy then they will sit home on election day and cry when the RAT wins and nominates a liberal to the left of Ginsburg to SCOTUS.
On the other hand, the same thing can happen, but the RINO wins and then takes it out on the base because they chose to stay home and not support the party.
Then again, we can only hope the ideologue wins the election, more conservatives win their elections and we pull a 1994.

Hunter supporters go on Rudy threads every day and post articles about Hunter.
Rudy supporters do not go on Hunter threads and post articles about Rudy.
And I'm not the one condemning other people's religion. I pointed out to you that it's been done by a small group of people, some of whom claim to be Evangelicals.
Which gives him a leg up on Hunter.
It's just killing you that Rudy is the frontrunner among Republicans.

I'd forgotten that his former wife, Donna Hanover, was estranged from him for years before he even met Judith.
If many feel this way, then I would recommend the Conservatives form their own party. The RATS did, they just never changed their name from the Democrat to Social Democrat party.
The way to win elections now is to collaborate with the moderates which is now about 40% of the populace? Neither party can win without them. Perot went after them and Clinton won because it was done the opposite way.
Form a party, have a platform and send the message to the moderates. If we believe that our message is the right one, then they will come on board.
We are no longer Republicans and there are no longer Democrats. Only Conservatives, Liberals and Moderates.

Sheesh, why can't people here separate what should be STATE issues and allow the President to deal with NATIONAL issues.
It is all about the WAR ON TERROR, and I personally don't give a crap about abortion or gay marriage, or whether criminals should pack a hand gun...these are state issues, I will vote in my state to address those issues...I WANT A COMMANDER IN CHIEF, and I think Rudy is angry enough to take the fight to the terrorists that the terrorists deserve. PERIOD.
