If you think this SI cover is outrageous, just wait till you see Al Gore and global warming on the next FHM cover.

...create the false impression that rapid global warming, such as Earth is experiencing, is a natural phenomenon...

Of course, to swallow this you have to ignore that historical evidence of natural and continuous climate change and believe that the Earth has always been like it was in the 1950s, no, wait, the 1850s, no, wait, ah...just a second while I pick a climate I like...

"Recent studies have cast doubt on this relationship, however. New estimates of the total change in the brightness of the Sun during the Maunder Minimum suggest it was only fractions of a percent, and perhaps not enough to create the global cooling commonly attributed to it."

I notice a frequent occurrence in this article of the term "fraction of a percent...not enough to affect earth's temperature..."

It is amazing that a "fraction of a percent" increase in sun intensity has no effect while a "fraction of a percent" of CO2 is killing us.

FoxNews is becoming worthless.

FreedomCalls: "Is it just me or do Milankovitch cycles remind you of Ptolemaic epicycles?"

Milankovitch cycles are real, and most likely the primary cause of Earth's ice ages. From Wikipedia: "Milankovitch cycles are the collective effect of changes in the Earth's movements upon its climate, named after Serbian civil engineer and mathematician Milutin Milanković. The eccentricity, axial tilt, and precession of the Earth's orbit vary in several patterns, resulting in 100,000 year ice age cycles of the Quaternary glaciation over the last few million years. The Earth's axis completes one full cycle of precession approximately every 26,000 years. At the same time, the elliptical orbit rotates, more slowly, leading to a 22,000 year cycle in the equinoxes. In addition, the angle between Earth's rotational axis and the normal to the plane of its orbit changes from 21.5 degrees to 24.5 degrees and back again on a 41,000 year cycle... A number of other terms vary between 95,000 and 136,000 years, and loosely combine into a 100,000 year cycle."

Now I'm thoroughly confused. The other planets are getting warm while the earth is getting warm. This just can't be.

A renowned democratic politician explained this to me the other day. "Carbon credits purchased from other planets will be used to offset global warming on Earth." This made sense to me so I purchased several thousand dollars worth of these things. They are generally black and shaped like a credit card.

He explained that all I beed do was stick the carbon credits into the slot in carbon credit reader in my house and an amount of heat equal to the carbon credit value on the cards would be sent to the outer planets from where the carbon credits came.

Sounded like a spiffy idea to me. Then I asked this renowned politician and environmental saviour about this carbon credit machine with the slot in it and told him that I was sure there was no such device in my home and what should I do with the used carbon credit cards?

He said that if I signed up today I would get free installation of the machine and no rental for the first six months. He said not to worry about the carbon credit cards as the machine processed those by burning them and converting the heat to energy which was also transmitted to the outer planets. After the six month's free rental I would be charged $487.50 a month for machine rental with a 20% discount on any future credits. I signed right then and there.

I can'y wait to do my part for global warming and will surely vote for that fine Mr. Gore in the next presidential election.

Earth Day is fast approaching. Actually, there are two March 20th and April 22nd. I'm not sure which one is the official one?

So, my first question is "Which is it?"

The Earth Day speakers will do what they have done every year since 1970 when the first Earth Day was held: They will trash America as the fountain of all pollution; call for more government regulation of businesses; and continue fighting against energy independence for our nation. Ironically, on the first Earth Day, radical environmentalists were ranting about the alleged coming dangers of “global cooling.” Today, they’re ranting about global warming.

So, my second question is "Which is it?"

Looks to me like the GW crowd is now totally discredited. They have nothing useful to say to anyone.
