Earlier this week, I put up a Pajamas Media Straw Poll. Here are the results on the GOP side, from Right Wing News:
The poll resets every week, so technically, I could run it in constant rotation here at RWN. However, that seems like a bit to me. But, every 2 weeks? That might not be a bad idea.
PS: If you want to see the overall results, click on the link above and hit all. Also, there are Democratic results, but those are almost meaningless given that the PJM straw poll participants are almost all on the right.
PS #2: Yes, I do consult for one of the candidates on this list through TCV Media.
TOPICS: Government
KEYWORDS: duncanhunter; rudy

I posted the results from RWN's poll, not Pajama's media website. Two different animals.

Don't fault Area51. All his guy has are bogus poll results. If he starts looking weak there, he's got nothing.

I don't believe Thompson would be any different than McCain when it comes to illegals...

Its refreshing to finally see a thread PROMOTING their guy(s) instead of the scorched earth threads that seem to dominate around here lately.
I've gotten sick of the duncanbots (the people who troll every other candidate threads... trashing every other possible republican candidates for president in '08) and am mostly ignoring these primary threads until it actually matters.

I understand, but here is why that happens. One, this is a conservative website, not a GOP website. Hence, Rudy and to a lesser degree McCain, are seen as nothing but GOP sellouts, and the most folks here are very, very opposed.
Two, the MSM does not spend any time writing 50 articles a day on Hunter or conservatives in the race like they do for the "big three". So we sit here and see a group of freepers post poll after poll, article after article extolling the virtues of Rudy, trying mightily to convince us right wingers that he is a) acceptable to conservatives and b) that it is a forgone conclusion that he wins the nomination.

I don't care if you want to tout Hunter's or Romney or Thomson's conservative creds.
I don't even care if you want to point out how they compare to someone like Rudy where he lacks them.
But I see the duncanbots running around, and I used the term scorched earth for a reason, just trashing other candidates.
You may feel different, but I think that tearing down and making ANY of the candidates "unacceptable, even in the general election", making personal attacks and doing the democrats work is not helping conservatives or conservatism.
Just like "teaching the Republicans a lesson" last November was supposed to "defend conservatives" and what did it get you?
Goodbye Rumsfeld, goodbye Bolton, hello nancy, hello murtha, hello schumer.... yeah conservatism won that day /rolleyes
Like I said, build up your guy all you want, personally I'm willing to vote for any of the candidates if they get the nod (including McStain who I DESPISE).
I just think people like you are leading us down a place where if someone "you guys" deem unacceptable does win the nod... HELLO 3rd party... hello Ross Perot... hello President Mrs. Hillary Clinton.

Oh yeah and I DID say that this thread was one of the good ones by the way. That stuff isn't happening here thats why I said it was refreshing.
Though now that I pointed it out I'm sure it won't take long to "go there"

McPain I understand, but how the heck did Chuckie Hagel break one percent?
To: Grunthor
You're not just engaging in wishful thinking, are you?
I think the opposite is true. Duncan Hunter has very loud support, just not enough of it.

Merry,
That's a fair question. I am not actually someone that thinks the best president needs to be a seasoned politician. I would be happy to support someone such as Ross Perot IF PEROT HAD A CHANCE, WAS CONSERVATIVE, AND WASN'T CRAZY. My point being that I don't necessarily think that a president needs to be steeped in DC or politics for that matter to occupy the oval office.
If you look at the current crop of candidates, none of them really have much more experience that Thompson. Yes, Romney served one term as Gov, Rudy served as Mayor of a big city, Hillary has served just over one term as Senator, and Obama hasn't even served one term yet. Thompson's experience is actually a little more substantial than just the Senate. He did assist the White House with the John Roberts nomination. He worked on the Watergate hearings, and has been in the Senate for over one term.
My gut tells me that the people are fairly sick of politicians as usual and he would be warmly received.
