"...How difficult would it be to bring in a nuclear device in such a private plane...would we be able to detect it?..."

Congrats, PTBG! You're the first to state the obvious. ahmanutjob cannot EVER be allowed to bring a 'private-plane' anywhere near the USA. ............ FRegards

Well with that kind of analysis, I'm sure they stop whatever it is they are doing to warrant this "pressure" you're talking about...

I guess its the kind of pressure (sanctions) that makes the west (us) feel good about ourselves putting on them (Iran), and not do a whole helluva lot to them (Iran) in reality...

Don't get me wrong, but I have to ask the question...

Do you think anyone with any sense at all, would have a problem if some accident, or some kind of military strike were to manifest itself on their "stuff"??? (i.e. nuke sites, President Aminipajamamahd and his entourage, etc etc...)

I'm certainly going to go out and dance a jig if we ever got the stones to actually do it...

But I guess we'll make everyone happy if we just continue to apply pressure (sanctions), and be ever diplomatic to the end, since that makes everyone happy...

Because violence makes others unhappy, and mad, and go to the NYTimes and let everyone know they are unhappy, and that telling everyone at the U.N. in NYC that they are unhappy, and that gets everyone happy and applauding, and calling America all sorts of naughty names and stuff...

So I guess I am just trying to balance the whole happy, unhappy thing...

But still...

Maybe it would be neato if we just called a terrorist a terrorist, and deal with that like we should...And those that would be unhappy about that can go pound that stuff outside their doors called sand...

My money is on "nothing is going to happen", and those in this country who would be happy to pander to Pajamamahd, should be well documented so we know what we are dealing with over here domestically...

But thats for another topic and discussion...

You got skillzzzzz. Seriously, thank you very much. The article and photo are very good evidence of Ahmadinejad background. I remember Bani Sadr from those days. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abolhassan_Banisadr He was a leftist that Khomeini tolerated until he could take all the power. Lives in France these days

Appearances with totalitarian regimes are often not representative of the reality within that state.

The sanctions on Iraq did have an effect, and they will have an effect on Iran. When people are hungry they start to grumble about revolutions and all sorts of things. Iraq which you mention is a perfect example. The Kurds had a pseudo state of their own by the time the war began in 2003. Saddam's regime had been severely weakened through years of sanctions even though there was food for oil, etc. The communist party in the US had thousands run their way during the Great Depression, likewise, when things get tough, people start to question those in power. That's a reality that is true everywhere.

You have to look at it in context of a much larger picture. You politically and economically isolate the country, you blast them with a coordinated Information Operations campaign, you send in Special Forces to support those who are the enemy of this regime....... You weaken them from all angles, and that's what we're working towards. Even our political efforts are all towards isolating them. Which is good.

Are all the people really so happy in Iran?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/iran/story/0,,2012872,00.html

http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1392079,00.html

Iran is bigger than Iraq. Iran has about three TIMES as many people as Iraq. Iran is largely mountainous and this reduces a lot of our advantage in a maneuver war (We are awesome in large scale maneuver war) we could have. With Iraq and Afghanistan on our hands, besides covert operations and possibly a limited air campaign there is not much that will happen in terms of military strikes. Iran is much more capable militarily today than Iraq was. Iran has not been suffering from an embargo for the last 11 years and has more money to buy things like SA15. A limited air campaign will only have a delaying effect and should not be regarded as an answer of its own. We might be able to ratchet up the pain a bit with such an action as well, creating a cause and effect understanding. But Iran's leaders are right when they state they can't be stopped. But it might be to their advantage to stop on their own,and that's where we are at today.

What we can do is turn up the pressure to a point where they see it advantageous to stop. It's the age old game of the carrot and stick. In parallel we plan for the most likely and least preferred option, which is that they do build a nuke. To counter this we are building a missile defense system which will also be adopted by NATO.

A lot of our actions, a lot of the cracks we create with our pressure is not obvious from the outside.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/07/AR2007030702241.html

This hardly gets any media attention, but do you think when generals turn and flee it's a minor deal? In a free country you have a free press and you have political opposition. In a theocratic totalitarian regime you hear no dissent from anyone. But there is a lot of pressure being exerted on this regime and there are cracks which we can exploit and tear open into huge gaping bleeding holes.

The important thing to remember is that the time-line we are told by dimwitted reporters is most likely false. We probably have a much longer time before Iran gets to a nuke than what most are speculating, and certain actions on our part within the DoD and US government substantiate my theory. Direct military action will only be short term and limited, with no major ground component involved. It's results will only yield a delay. In the meantime we pressure them all we can, once the time comes we might even strike them, if all else fails plan “B” is a defense system which is already coincidentally being built and oriented in a direction that looks towards Iran. Why do you think NATO is pushing for a radar to be stationed in the Ukraine?

"...Allowing a "private" aircraft here controlled by Islamic Iran is inviting nuclear /threat/blackmail/disaster..."

Obviously, no 'private-plane' trip to the USA can be allowed.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out ............ FRegards

My guess would be an EMP (electro-magnetic pulse) nuke bomb released and detonated from the plane at some 30,000 feet as retaliation when the UN refuses to accept his desires.

All electronic circuitry around New York will stop. Think about that!

Not just computers in the Stock Exchange or Banks but cars, laptops, phones, trains, traffic lights, taxis, cash registers, Internet etc.,etc.

No big loss of human life but what a HUGE payback to the UN and the USA for saying "no" to him!

Let them come, but blow the plane out of the sky east of Long Island. "Unfortunate mishap...failed to identify itself approaching U.S."

"...EMP ... Think about that!..."

I have, and that's probably the intended plan. The muzzies have no shortage of willing martyrs.

BTW, the 'private-plane' thing has been removed now. Ahmanutjob will have to find some other way to get to the UN. ............. FRegards

Well, I think the EMP crowd has been watching wayyyyy too much "Jericho"...;-)

Who knows???

Maybe thats what Aminipajamabad wants some people to think???

EMP, or some other dastardly plan...Trust me when I briefly state that if he or anyone in his group does more than sneeze...I'm sure they ALL will newver be that unhappy again...

He's going to fly over here and parade around (if he ever lands) NYC with his entourage of 25 "yes men numbnuts"...And go back home...

Personally??? I would pretty much like to kick him as hard as I can in the peanuts...

But...I bet you this, he may also be trying to get in to see that movie 300...Who knows...

One other thing, he had better not come across any of his former countrymen over here either...Wooo boy!

He may enjoy the whole peanut kicking thing more than that encounter...

But the whole thing at the U.N. is going to see if he can intimidate certain nieghbors of his in the forum...Thats all it is when that vote comes up...

And for all intensive purposes...The U.N. means nothing to me or to him...Or to many of us for that matter...

I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over this...

Whatever the weapon would be, it would have to be big enough and planned to be placed in a strategic enough location (Whitehouse @ 500 knots?) to be considered worth Ahmanutjob "martyring" himself for were there to be such a plan.

Test one of the new F-22 Raptors

C'mon, If a P-38 Lightening was good enough for Admiral Yamamoto, that's what we should use on this guy. Not only would it provide a touching tribute to the Greatest Generation, our denials would drive the Islamofascists, and their leftist American fellow travelers, nuts.
