The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is a bunch of fools!

They are against American's military power but drive a hybrid that sports a "Free Tibet" bumper sticker!

Why couldn't Mrs. O'Leary's cow have had a calf that moved to San Francisco?

We have one already. It's called the Department of Defense.

Which used to be the War Department.

"Department of Defense" is bad enough. Frankly, I liked it much better when it had the more masuline and no-nonsense name "Department of War." That was good enough for the period 1789 until September 1947. That seems to be the date the pansie assess took over.

Hippies...hippies... they say they want to save the world... but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad.--Eric Cartman

Lord, what fools these hippies be. A department of peace, to be used for... entitlement programs.

Don't ever let anyone tell you that there are no serious side-effects to smoking pot.

The War Department is what the Department of the Army used to be called. The Defense Department is a new office, not a replacement name for War.

"The United States Department of War was the department of the United States government's executive branch responsible for the operation and maintenance of land (and later air) forces from 1789 until 18 September 1947, when it became part of the National Military Establishment, renamed on 10 August 1949 as the Department of Defense. The War Department was headed by the United States Secretary of War, who was also a member of the President's Cabinet. The War Department was also referred to as the War Office."

Dept of Peace -- manages mass graves of all the people killed by our enemies because they wouldnt support (or worse, worked against) those who defend out country....

My vote is for Sodom By The Bay to be designated 'Sacrificial Nuclear Attack Target'.

Right. Now read it carefully. "...branch responsible for the operation and maintenance of land (and later air) forces..."
The Army.
"...when it became part of the National Military Establishment..."
Note the phrase "became part of."

There was a War Department, which controlled the Army (and Army Air Force), and a Navy Department, which controlled the Navy and Marines. After WWII, they both, along with a newly independent Air Force, came under the auspices of the newly formed Department of Defense.

I think that San Francisco should propose a U.S. Department of Shutting Down the Open-Air Crack and Prostitution Market at Seventeenth and Mission Streets One Block from the Police Station. It hasn't happened otherwise, that's for sure.

All the more reason to declare the Bay Area a foreign country and build a wall around it. Of course we could make California 2 states. Nobody in Sacramento gives a rat's @ss about any part of the state south of San Jose!

In all seriousness, this is the single dumbest political thing I've ever heard. What do they imagine the State Dept. does? What do they imagine Presidential envoys do?
