CAPITOL HILL (AP) - Outed CIA operative Valerie Plame says she had nothing to do with her husband being sent on a fact-finding trip to Africa. It was a trip that her husband later said debunked the Bush administration's rationale for war.

She testified to a House panel that, "There was no nepotism involved," adding that she did not "have that authority."

Her husband is former Ambassador Joseph Wilson. He found there was no evidence that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy uranium for nuclear weapons.

"Her husband is former Ambassador Joseph Wilson. He found there was no evidence that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy uranium for nuclear weapons."

This has already been debunked. Wilson did indeed find evidence of Saddam seeking uranium. No surprise that the liberal AP reports otherwise.

So are you saying AP is lying when they say ... "Outed CIA operative Valerie Plame says she had nothing to do" ...
since according to you she didnt say that?

Interesting. AP lying about Plame's lies to Congress about lying Joe Wilson trip that led him to lie about Bush lying...

Yes, a good thing they are not Republicans, they might be in trouble.

She also denied recommending that her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, be sent to Niger in the 2002 mission.

Plame said a CIA colleague had mentioned that Wilson was qualified to do this assignment. She said she was "ambivalent" about that, as she was concerned about looking after the couple's two-year-old twins at the time. But asked to pass this request on, she did.

Sloppy reporting leads to more questions than it answers.Okay, she denied "recommending" him,but what was the nature of "this request"she "passed on"(this is a demonstrative pronoun, this one here, which one where?)

..."a CIA colleague had mentioned that Wilson was qualified to do this assignment..." is not a request.(Where do they get these writers?) The "context" seems to indicate that this request had something to do with her husband going overseas.I guess she requested that her husband be considered, but did not herself recommend him for the job.A letter that went something like "My husband is qualified for this assignment, but I'm not recommending him."

She said an email she sent was "taken out of context" by Republicans in Congress and made to seem as if she had recommended him.

The famous "taken out of context."

Valerie Wilson writes a memo to a superior saying, “My husband has good relations with both the PM [prime minister] and the former Minister of Mines (not to mention lots of French contacts), both of whom could possibly shed light on this sort of activity.”

If that's not a recommendation then I don't know what is, is.

It's also kinda strange that these people, who 30 years ago, believed that the CIA was behind every evil in the whole world, now think that it's the paradigm of honesty and integrity.

You might as well go ahead and get PO'd now and get it off your chest. No Republican will dare speak against the Dems, as they fear Dems will be in power in 2 years. It's all about their own long-term survival (in politics).

This is scary! This fiasco and the Libby verdict is downright horrifying. The sad part is that nothing will be done by Justice about it. They have hamstrung Justice with the firings and the MSM is so far in their pocket that not a word of truth will be spoken or printed.

They are setting up an impeachment trial for the President and the Vice President. If they deliver 2 articles of impeachment at once we will be living in a third world country and it will be a coup. The Senate won't convict, I'm positive of that, but they will have destroyed the Presidency, and his ability to lead. They will lie, and lie, and lie. The MSM will back them up with lies of their own, and the rent-a-mobs will fill the streets with their vile behavior and smashmouth tactics. The liberal federal bench will throw the Constitution under the bus and the People will suffer. I don't even know if the Supreme Court could intervene. But, who cares, the ends justify the means. This will embolden our enemys, and the brave in the service of our country will die. But, who cares, the ends justify the means. Hell, a civil war may even break out which will cripple the nation. But, who cares, the end justifies the means.

The Republicans, the Administration, and the President need to start fighting back. If this thing is played out to a final, horrible, conclusion you and I could be imprisoned for being Republicans. We could probably get shot for being Conservatives.

In the eyes of this Conservative, the only difference between the Democrats and the Islamofascists is that the Democrats would imprison us and the Islamists would kill us. Either way I'm dead.

Note to self: buy lots of ammo, it's going to be a long siege.

God help us, and God bless the United States of America but I really think we are headed toward an armed conflict within the boarders of our own country. When lawmakers become the outlaw, what choice do we have? That's what the Second Amendment of the Constitution of these here United States was intended for. God help us, we may have to use it.

Other than a spectacle for the masses who vote for them, why are the dems bothering with an "investigation?"

Fact: Fitzgerald knew FROM THE START that Libby did NOT leak the information.

Fact: Fitzgerald knew FROM THE START who had leaked the information. Given the fact that NO CHARGES WERE BROUGHT against the "leaker," there must have been no crime committed.

Just a bunch of granstanding dems trying to destroy the administration. I really wish that the Bush administration would fight back, but I've got a feeling that they're using it for cover, so we don't notice what's going on with the illegal aliens.

Mark

AP lie: "Her husband is former Ambassador Joseph Wilson. He found there was no evidence that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy uranium for nuclear weapons"

Should have written: ....He lied when he said he found there was no evidence that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy uranium for nuclear, according to information in a senate committee report which was part of the 911 Investigation.

It's not clear from the AP article whether or not Plame actually said that she had nothing to do with her husband being sent to Niger. Those were the reporter's words characterizing her testimony -- they're not in quotes. If she didn't actually say those words, then you can decide what to call it: lying, spinning, fake but accurate.

If she simply said the words actually in quote marks -- then my point was that she's probably not committing perjury. As Eric in the Ozarks says in #16, she's learned to parse.

If anyone has heard the full testimony, it would be interesting to know whether she directly denied any involvement -- even making a recommendation. If so, then she could be nailed for perjury (in a perfect world -- which this isn't).

I shouldn't have replied directly from my Pings page. From some of the testimony quoted by other posters, it seems that Plame has dug herself in deeper than it appeared in the AP article.

Eric in the Ozarks -- just letting you know that I cited you in my # 37.

Someone said that when Plame was questioned she said she couldn't be sure she was covert when 'outed' because she wasn't a lawyer.

Is this correct? Anyone know if there a quote from the hearing around about this?

NBC Nightly covered it from the "little woman at home with the twins" angle. They didn't challenge her posting in Who's Who, gossip columnists or if she had ever held a secret clearance. She denied that she sent her husband on this bogus trip (legally) and a lot of other halfway remarks. I was unbelievable that they had nothing, zero, in response to her BS. This story was followed by the AG story. No fan of Alberto, I; but again, no mention that all the attorneys are political appointees and no mention of the Clinton clean-out when Bubba took office.
One sided news there is no shortage of... Rush may be on to something when he predicts a very strong comeback (not with the Bush GOP) of basic conservatism in government after what we've seen lately.
