I disagree.
If Fred Thompson runs it becomes a two man race between Thompson and Giuliani. I honestly believe that the only way McCain will even finish a distant 3rd in primary voting is by Democrats crossing over to vote for him.
We constantly are hearing "x" is going to get in the race and then "y" happens---all of which involve chest-beating, such as:
- It becomes a two-man race.
- Rudy gets mopped up or blobbed up or whatever.
- The base catches fire and "Smoke on the Water" becomes "x's" theme song.
- Whatever.
Problem is (1) "x" keeps changing. First, it's McCain, then it's Newt, then it's Fred Thompson. Next it will be Laura Ingraham or Pat Boone.
If only Ted Nugent would run, THEN . . . oh, yeah, THEN . . . see above.
It's starting to sound like some pitiful playground game---"Over here, guys! No, wait! Over here! No--here, come over here!"
And (2) it never happens.
