Revealing the Total Giuliani (MSM attempted hit piece)
Washington Post ^ | March 18, 2007 | Andrew Kirtzman

Posted on 03/17/2007 9:07:56 AM PDT by FairOpinion

After first misreading his intentions and then underestimating his strength, waves of pundits are continuing to view Rudy Giuliani's lead in Republican presidential polls as some kind of giant misunderstanding.

But the fact is that the former New York mayor is the front-runner in the race and a huge new force in American politics. The time has come to stop wondering whether he's for real and start asking a far more important question: What kind of president would he be?

Giuliani is an enormously gifted man, with extraordinary accomplishments to his credit.

He has a knack for inserting himself into the center of controversy, as he did when he had Yasser Arafat thrown out of Lincoln Center, sparking an international incident. Or when he waged a culture war by attempting to pull city funding from the Brooklyn Museum of Art over an exhibit he found offensive.

A Republican in a town of Democrats, he was determined to smash a status quo that had long accepted billion-dollar deficits, deteriorating services and exploding welfare rolls as the norm. The city by then had grown so filthy, crime-ridden and politically dysfunctional that even liberal Democrats were willing to look the other way for someone who could bang some heads. They found their man in the new mayor.

To Giuliani, it seemed, the goal of saving the city was worth all the trampled reputations at City Hall and public indignities suffered in the streets. He was that rare politician who didn't care what people thought of him. No amount of pressure from civil libertarians, unions, homeless advocates or street activists could sway the mayor from his mission to make New York into a more civilized society.

If Marxism were defined by television and radio stations, you'd have a point.

No, you're the one who defined Marxism by "public art". So then I responded using your "logic" to say that you can define Marixism by public radio stations and TV stations.

Now, according to your "logic" you can define Marxism by public art but you can't define Marxism by public TV and Radio stations.

Your hypocrisy is silly.

...there have been a number of attempts over the years to have the Federal government get rid of any number of Marxist -- and unconstitutional -- programs (including its television and radio interests), but New York's congressional delegation is consistently one of the most vocal supporters of these things.

Last I checked, congressmen (mostly Democrats)from all across the country voted for a federal budget that includes the unconstitutional spending for federally funded public radio and TV stations. Yet you only blame the fat Marxists in NYC.

Your response is absurd.

"The time has come to stop wondering whether he's for real and start asking a far more important question: What kind of president would he be?"

The kind of President Rudy Giuliani would be:

(1). He'd be a pro-abortion, (including partial birth abortion), champion.

(2). He'd be a pro-homosexual pervert's rights President.

(3). He'd be a pro-Affirmative Action President.

(4). He'd be a pro-illegal alien President.

(5). He'd be an anti-2nd Amendment, gun-grabbing President.

(6). He'd be a President with absolutely zero foreign policy experience.

(7). He'd be a President with a long history of appointing liberal judges.

(8). He would probably beat Hillary Clinton, which, apparently, is the only thing that matters to a whole lot of Republicans.

Now that bottle of Rudy Whiskey is just about the funniest thing I have seen ALL day.

ROTFLMAO!

I bought a bottle, sipped it, and all of a sudden muy conservative erection plans changed into liberal moonbat election prawns. It was thankfully temporary though, as I realized the errors of my ways, and prompty remedied myself with some Talisker single malt.

A lot of people on Free Republic have been drinking this Rudy Whiskey shite. I am allergic to it meself.

I gave the remainder of my Rudy Whiskey to the neighbor's dog, and that shameless canine began bending over in front of anything that looked phallic, animate or inanimate. He also would do ANYTHING for a little dog treat, including jumping through hoops that the cats had set up. If he sees a gun, he howls shamelessly and runs the other way.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Poor pooch. Has to be put down. His only hope is for Rudy to adopt the mutt. They would make a good pair.

Would his instinct for dividing politicians into friends and enemies plunge the White House into a Nixon-era bunker mentality? Or would his confrontational style usher in a refreshing era of Truman-style bluntness?

From the my reading of the article, I'd say it would be the Democrats and their allies in the media who would be the ones in the bunker.

To Fair Opinion: Conservatives like Duncan Hunter, as indicated in the poll results below. FreeRepublic is a conservative website. Why are you here? I thought you used to be somewhat conservative. Maybe too much Soy in your diet?

To dirtboy: Keep pounding the "Libs for Rudy" wing of the GOP, thanks!

Must be that vast right wing conspiracy Hillary has been whining about. There are millions of us across the nation, who think Rudy is a winner even tho' we don't buy in to all his social politics.

"BINGO! You win a fish."

And if we get Rudy for President, we all win four years of liberal rule.

I cited both an art museum and a concert hall as two specific examples of Marxism in New York City -- because they were the two cases cited in the article at the top of the thread in which the former mayor of New York exercised his "authority."

If I were looking to make the case that New York City was a bastion of Marxism, I'd cite a whole list of other (better) examples -- including the largest, most bloated bureacracy in any jurisdiction in the country, the largest number of people living on public assistance, one of the highest tax burdens anywhere on the planet, a city-owned "university" system (and I use that term loosely), etc.

You've taken two specific examples of television and radio stations and extrapolated that to make the case that New York City is not a bastion of Marxism.

I don't want to sell Guiliani to my kids. His lifestyle choices, and those he chooses to align with, prevents me from telling my children he would be a good President.

Might be a good litmus test for everyone to consider.

Probably 8 years and it won't be a "liberal" rule.

"Probably 8 years and it won't be a "liberal" rule."

No?

Ted Kennedy = pro-abortion / Giuliani = pro-abortion.

Ted Kennedy = pro-illegal alines / Giuliani = pro-illegal aliens.

Ted Kennedy = pro-Affirmative Action / Giuliani = pro-Affirmative Action /

Ted Kennedy = pro-gay rights / Giuliani = pro-gay rights.

Ted Kennedy = anti-gun / Giuliani = anti-gun

Ted Kennedy = pro-liberal judges. / Giuliani = appointed 90% liberal judges as Mayor of NYC.

Like I said, if Giuliani is elected President, look for at least four more years of LIBERAL rule.

Well it appears that Hillary or whomever democrat will win the election....why?

Because there are a lot of us conservatives that will not vote for Rudy....

In fact, If Rudy wins I will leave the Republican Party....because it will not reflect my beliefs or values any longer

I will vote for Duncan and or Fred and maybe even Newt....so why do all you insist on destroying the party with a Rudy vote.....
