They attempt this as a hit piece, but if you read it the message is that RUDY IS A STONG LEADER. Works for me.

Note the way they don't mention that the exhibit Rudy found offensive was the Madonna covered withe elephant dung and he didn't think public funding should be provided to a Museum exhibiting this. Sure conservatives agree with his actions.

I forgot to include the paragraph that discusses the superior RESULTS he got.

"It was often harrowing to watch, but the results were astonishing. It turned out that a mayor actually could change the life of the metropolis. Gone was the daily barrage of panhandling, public urination and car thievery that had become central to every New Yorker's life. Crime plummeted. The sense of menace that permeated the streets gradually lifted. The economic benefits cascaded: Business boomed, and minority communities left for dead for half a century started flowering."

So RUDY IS A LEADER WHO GETS RESULTS.

That was an interesting article if you click through to read it all.

You get the picture of a bull in the china shop kind of guy. He gets stuff done right, but he breaks a lot of stuff in the process.

And he doesn't care about the broken stuff.

Feel the sweet embrace of authority. I guess the government is our best friend now. All will kneel.

Hey I like Rudy for the various conservative things he did for NYC but I believe this is a WP push piece written to support WP push polls.

Or when he waged a culture war by attempting to pull city funding from the Brooklyn Museum of Art over an exhibit he found offensive.

The exhibit was the Virgin Mary surrounded by small vaginas and covered with elephant dung.

May people found it offensive. POS liberal media.

"RUDY IS A STONG LEADER" works so long as he's trying to lead to a place you want to go.

That isn't the case with me, so he's much less appealing.

The article seemed pretty evenhanded to me. Of course I do recognize that anything less than fawning support of liberalism is a disappointment to some folks.

And spare me the trite "if you don't support Rudy you support Hillary" BS. That was worn out when talking about Arnold, and it carries no weight with me.

. . . as he did when he had Yasser Arafat thrown out of Lincoln Center, sparking an international incident. Or when he waged a culture war by attempting to pull city funding from the Brooklyn Museum of Art over an exhibit he found offensive.

One big issue that has been overlooked with regard to both of these stories is the fact that they demonstrate how far off the charts New York City is compared to the rest of this country. The city is such a bastion of Marxism that it is one of the few places where a public official would even be in a position to have any say over what goes on in an art museum, or in a concert hall.

I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights, Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded. Source: CNN.com, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999 http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Rudy_Giuliani_Abortion.htm

ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES (November 14, 2006)

RUDY GIULIANI (R), FORMER MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY: I'm pro- choice. I'm pro-gay rights.

KING: Giuliani supports a woman's right to an abortion, and back in 1999, he opposed a federal ban on late-term abortions.

GIULIANI: No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing.

KING: Immigration could be another presidential landmine. Back in 1996, Mayor Giuliani went to federal court to challenge new federal laws requiring the city to inform the federal government about illegal immigrants.

JEFFREY: He took the side of illegal immigrants in New York City against the Republican Congress.

KING: Giuliani opposes same-sex marriage but as mayor, he supported civil unions and extending health and other benefits to gay couples. He also supported the assault weapons ban and other gun control measures opposed by the National Rifle Association.

GIULIANI: I'm in favor of gun control. I'm pro-choice.

Republican Big-Wigs Support Pro-Abortion Event in NY

Pro-abortion Governor George Pataki and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also supports unrestricted abortion, are co-chairs of the 2000 Choice Award Presentation to be held on May 30 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. The event is sponsored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition, a group that is campaigning for the removal of the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform.

Me too. I was offended by the elephant dung Madonna as well as the crucifix in a jar of urine being displayed as "ART." Disgusting. Only Rudy had the balls to do something about it.

"The time has come to stop wondering whether he's for real and start asking a far more important question: What kind of president would he be?"

The kind of President Rudy Giuliani would be:

(1). He'd be a pro-abortion, (including partial birth abortion), champion.

(2). He'd be a pro-homosexual pervert's rights President.

(3). He'd be a pro-Affirmative Action President.

(4). He'd be a pro-illegal alien President.

(5). He'd be an anti-2nd Amendment, gun-grabbing President.

(6). He'd be a President with absolutely zero foreign policy experience.

(7). He'd be a President with a long history of appointing liberal judges.

(8). He would probably beat Hillary Clinton, which, apparently, is the only thing that matters to a whole lot of Republicans.

Would his instinct for dividing politicians into friends and enemies plunge the White House into a Nixon-era bunker mentality? Or would his confrontational style usher in a refreshing era of Truman-style bluntness?

From the my reading of the article, I'd say it would be the Democrats and their allies in the media who would be the ones in the bunker.

I don't want to sell Guiliani to my kids. His lifestyle choices, and those he chooses to align with, prevents me from telling my children he would be a good President.

Might be a good litmus test for everyone to consider.
