Gore All Business at HBS: [Gore wants Pollution based taxes]
HBS Bulletin ^ | March, 2007 | Staff

Posted on 03/18/2007 12:05:24 PM PDT by PajamaTruthMafia

We are managing the planet as if it were a business in liquidation,” former U.S. Vice President Al Gore declared to a capacity audience of 900 MBA students during a talk titled “A Change in Business Climate” presented in Burden Auditorium in December. Gore explained that the population explosion, coupled with the revolutions in science and technology, have greatly magnified the impact of humans on the earth’s ecosystem. “But the biggest challenge we face,” he said, “is changing the way we think about our relationship with the environment.” [snip]

If price tags are the only tool used to measure value, said Gore, “then things that don’t have price tags appear to have no value.” [snip]

Gore [snip], said that solving the environmental crisis represents “the greatest source of new business opportunity in the world.” [snip]

In attacking the climate crisis, Gore concluded, the rest of the world will follow if America provides leadership. “This is the only crisis that has threatened the end of human civilization,” he said, “and we are moving in the opposite direction.” [snip]

[snip] In his talk, sponsored by the School’s Leadership and Values Initiative, Gore stated that in an ideal world, employment-based taxes would be replaced by levies on pollution, which is by definition an indicator of waste and inefficiency [snip]

Gore and David Blood (MBA ’85) are founding partners of Generation Investment Management, a firm that makes long-term investments in companies adhering to sustainability principles.

I think the United Nations is the best entity to manage this new source of tax revenue.

By the way, I just returned from re-education camp and feel just great.

He needs a shrink. Al has went off the deep end. Its time Al, just come out and admit you are a pinko.

Don't do as I do, do as I say.

"In attacking the climate crisis, Gore concluded, the rest of the world will follow if America provides leadership. “This is the only crisis that has threatened the end of human civilization,” he said, “and we are moving in the opposite direction.”"

America is providing leadership in the war on terror and apparently no one wants to follow this leadership, especially the DNC. I thought terrorism threatens the end of human civilization?

Everyone now knows that Gore is nothing but hot air. He wants every other American to sacrifice to 'save the planet' but his personal power usage is 20 times the average. I seriously doubt any of these students with half a brain listened to him. He's such a hypocrite.

To quote one of Walt Kelly's Pogo characters:

"Halp! My powerful brain has done blowed itself up!"

I think Algore has contemplated too much scientific theory without having taken a science class to fall back on.

Former vice-president and global warming guru Al Gore Jr. received more than $500,000 in royalties from the owners of zinc mines, according to a report on Tennessean.com.

So Al Gore should get taxed what, at least 1 or 2 billion...

America has been leading by example, not in blowing hot air. Per usual. See our cuts in pollution relative to the rest of Europe and Canada.

Pollution levels have fallen in this country every year since the 1970s with the mild exceptions of 1997 and 2002. Al Gore is invoking the guilty conscience the left has so successfully thrust on our nation.

“. . . threatened the end of human civilization. . ."

What about worldwide famine, global cooling, Y2K, bird flu, or an invasion by aliens from another solar system?

Al proves that the apple (try saying that last word with two fingers in your mouth and you'll be much closer to the word I wanted to use but can't say here) doesn't fall too far from the tree.

Americans have memories shorter than Bill Clinton's (fill in your favorite male body part here) so a little review of history is in order (not that anyone will remember any of this when Al launches his dark horse shot at the White House).

Al's old man was a bud to Armand Hammer who was the ONLY American (and I use that title very loosely here) allowed to fly his private jet into and out of the USSR under Stalin and his successors without either US or USSR diplomatic clearance. Hammer cranked up and ran many businesses for old Uncle Joe, starting with a pencil factory as they had to keep records of those 60 million kulaks Joe starved to death. So your application of the term "communist" is an apt one.

Old Armand gave Al, Sr. TONS of campaign dough and Al, Sr. carried Armand's water on Capitol Hill for years.

And here's a REAL piece of irony: Hammer owned Occidental Petroleum which was responsible for the LOVE CANAL toxic waste mess in New York. Gotta wonder how much of born-again envirowhacko Al, Jr's current assets flowed from the profits Hammer and Occidental generated from burying those thousands of barrels of sickening toxic sludge at Love Canal.

Gee, could that be why Al is on his current crusade? Guilt? A heartfeld desire to purge the sins of his old man??

NYAAHHHHHHHHHH...!!!!

No, he just uses communism as a tool to make sure he's near the top of the heap.

If that meant the means was smearing ones self with chicken poop, there'd be a shortage of chickens and associated dung for the little people.

yes Gore wants more taxes. Now he wants a pollution tax. But who is Gore? He is not a private citizen. What he wants doesn't matter.

It's significant that socialists' are forever looking for ways to take more and more from the private sector and put it under government. Many people still don't see it.

Is Gore still getting his tobacco subsidy?
