I think that John Kerry is the most overrated man in the 20th century

Mahatma Gandhi, the most overrated man in the 20th century

That statement invites some pretty stiff comparisons. For instance Che Guevara was a freaking mass murderer and is still thought of as Jesus with a beret.

I hope that Fred Thompson does NOT permit himself to be placed as VP on anyone's ticket. He is strong enough and his message direct enough to be a great presidential candidate. To force him to a VP status would be to dilute the otherwise totally unalloyed strength of the man and would squander a great opportunity him (and us) and for no good reason.

That's for sure. People that know the real Mandela of history know he was a rapist who was thrown in jail and became a cause celebre of the ANC.

Kerry is pretty much a joke on both left and right....

the left still finds Mandela a hero and ignores his personal truth....

Hmmmm... Did he really say that Gandhi was the most overrated, or did he simply criticize using his approach to the war on terror?

India is a different place today than it was in the time of Ghandi.

I am not sure how they view him now but it seems he is irrelevant.

India today is putting to use the leftover British infrastructure and institutions to build a society that is attractive to everyone.

Regardless of the various reasons nations claimed their independence from Britain, there is an enormous positive influence that remains in the form of healthcare, law and a political process that they find very useful and acceptable.

Just heard Fred Thompson speak for the first time on a radio talk show very early this morning. Not about anything in particular, but definitely in with a Southern accent. I was not impressed with either the substance or the delivery. No Aha! there.

"Thompson-Hunter / Hunter-Thompson '08"

Well it may very well be Thompson-Hunter on the ticket. But it is certainly not going to be Hunter-Thompson as Hunter isn't going to be able to get past New Hampshire before he runs out of money.

The best orator the GOP has is not Thompson, Hunter or even Rudy. It's Newt Gingrich. But Gingrich has even less of a chance than Hunter and I hope he stays out of the race where he can do more good.

Fred Thomson said that on Paul Harvey. You can hear the entire statement in his own voice here:

I knew that Gandhi was overrated but I never read these quotes before. Disgusting! Next time someone asks me, a Christian, if I think Gandhi is burning in hell because he doesn't believe like I do, I will say "yes" and bring up these quotes.
