Bob Dornan Blasts 'Anti-Catholic' Nancy Pelosi

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., described as "maybe the most dangerous leader in the long campaign by anti-Catholics within the Church who mislead Americans," has advanced "the culture of death," a former congressman charged.

Former U.S. Rep. Robert Dornan discussed "Nancy Pelosi's faith in the culture of death," in the March-April 2007 issue of Celebrate Life magazine, which is published by the conservative American Life League (ALL).

Dornan also called Pelosi - the first woman to serve as speaker in the U.S. House of Representatives - a "propaganda maven who branded herself as a devout Catholic grandmother" even though she "favors diabolical partial-birth abortion."

"For 20 years, this lawmaker has obstinately been an accessory to every type of abortion, and it is a matter of public record," Dornan charged. "On Jan. 22, the 34th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Speaker Pelosi promised, 'As I have throughout my time in Congress, I will continue to work to ensure a woman's right to choose.'

"She led the charge for federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research, which kills defenseless embryonic persons," Dornan added. "This is Nancy Pelosi's work 'for the children,' and now, she's the most powerful woman in America."

The former congressman contrasted Pelosi's actions with her comments when a Baltimore street was named after her in early January. "My parents did not raise me to be speaker of the House," she said. "They raised me to be holy. They raised me to do the right thing."

But Dornan noted that on Jan. 14, a Catholic priest in her San Francisco home diocese, released an open letter telling Pelosi to stop calling herself Catholic and receiving the Eucharist because 'you are fooling yourself and many good Catholics.'"

Dornan called on Americans to engage in "a national prayer and education campaign."

"This isn't just about Nancy Pelosi. It's about our beloved Church and country's future - it's about saving millions of American children."

In a statement released on Monday, ALL President Judie Brown noted that copies of the magazine will be distributed to each congressional office on Capitol Hill within the next two days.

"These Catholic politicians who continually blaspheme their church by supporting abortion must be held to account," Brown said.

As Cybercast News Service previously reported, Dornan began working with ALL in October 2005. Even before then, the pro-life group had been critical of Catholic politicians who supported abortion.

"Church teaching is crystal clear on the fact that abortion kills a living human being created in the image and likeness of God and is therefore always wrong," Brown said on Monday.

"Ms. Pelosi and her fellow Catholics in Congress have the tremendous opportunity to do good, yet many continue to deny their faith and promote the senseless slaughter of pre-born children," she added.

Marjorie Signer, director of communications and policy for the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC) called Dornan's article part of a "smear campaign against fair-minded politicians who are Roman Catholic."

The RCRC "is always alarmed by those such as Mr. Dornan who try to stir up religious intolerance," she told Cybercast News Service. "As a staunch Roman Catholic, Speaker Pelosi has been a target of the most extreme elements but has remained committed to women as moral agents, able to make sound moral decisions of conscience.

"Using sectarian threats is not only wrong, but it is also harmful to the independence of our government and our nation," Signer said. "In this pluralistic nation, we agree to respect different views and decisions.

"Dornan's pronouncements show no understanding of the pluralism that makes this nation great," she added.

I suppose Pelosi is one of those Catholics who "supports the Church but not its teachings". Essentially, another forked tongued Dimocrap.

I think he takes his face seriously, and she is, after all, a disgrace to her baptism.

Too bad we can't get anyone who is currently in office or up for re-election to have the courage to speak out like this.

It's because the church is full of corrupt priests and bishops who really have no more faith than Rudi and the backbone of a worm ,,, the church wonders what will bring the parishioners back? I can tell then right here I don't need a multi-million $$$ study ... The church needs to close the leftist/socialist seminaries that are filling the churches with godless communists... they need a purge in the priesthood of all those that don't live the faith and actively push their parishioners down the right path... as to the candidates for priesthood they need to loosen the academic requirements... I'd rather have a priest thats an ex-plumber (or a deacon if the church can't reverse itself on the married priest issue) and BELIEVES in right/wrong and Gods word than any sandal wearing ex-hippie with a doctorate .....

Um, no. Teachings come from the Church. War doesn't come from the troops.
