SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger made nice with Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday, calling in to his radio program a day after dismissing the conservative host as "irrelevant." Limbaugh, who a day earlier had accused the governor of abandoning the conservative cause, treated Schwarzenegger cordially. But he pressed him on recent political moves that have angered conservatives, such as his $12 billion universal health care proposal.
The two had a back-and-forth discussion over extending health care to illegal immigrants and whether the money to pay for the governor's health plan amounted to new taxes or fees.
Limbaugh said the compromises Schwarzenegger said were necessary "to get things done" were a capitulation to liberals.
"We are still compromising our ideology," Limbaugh said. "They are not. And this is what people are upset about."
But Limbaugh sounded pleased when Schwarzenegger eased out of the interview, saying he wanted to smoke more cigars with him.
"You and I, we're going to have a good time again in our next smoke out," Schwarzenegger said. "We'll smoke a stogie together, and we will talk about this from here to eternity. The key thing is that people should know that you and I, we don't have a fight."
Schwarzenegger embraced a more centrist agenda after voters rebuked his attempt in 2005 to limit the power of public employee unions. His recent policy moves, to curb the greenhouse gases associated with global warming, raise the minimum wage and extend health care to all Californians, have angered many conservatives, including Limbaugh.

This is not what I heard today; Not how it went down.
This is the MSM's skewed take on the interview. I heard it, and Rush was calling out Ahnold on his liberal positions throughout the interview and after he hung up. He also quipped that it was highly unlikely that Maria had influenced Arnold's views, saying he doubted Maria could "get a word in edgewise," since Arnold talked so much.
Do tell.
I listened to most of the "interview" and found that it was mostly a light harangue in which Rush didn't get in much, Governor S. talking in rapid, never-ending fashion.
Rush Limbaugh couldn't get elected to the city clerk job in California, let alone Governor.
Rush, talk is cheap, why not run for office if you are so in the know about what are the right polices for Arnold to run on.
Rush couldn't get a word in edgewise...Arnold monopolized the whole conversation and went way over the scheduled time of 7 minutes.
The news"item" doesn't match the reality/transaction; there's an obvious slant. And this time the news slant is FOR Rush.
Rush has found his niche in life. He's good at what he does; and most days, I think he loves his work. :)
Schwarzenneger is a politician. He appears on Limbaugh's show because a zillion people listen to Limbaugh and Arnie hopes to bask in rush's reflective glory.
I'm afraid Arnie has been hanging around the Kennedy's too long.
Rush could have put him on mute for a bit to have his say; but, he is too much of a gentleman to do that.
Broke out laughing when I heard him say this; laughed again reading your retelling of the quip.
LOL! As is evident by your post!
Rush, the host; Arnold, the guest.
Oh, NO! And from this single interview. my, my.
Rush the host. Arnold, the girlyman.
