"I'd rather make my decisions on who's best to run the country on someone's personal life than any talent he/she has shown in actually running a governmental entity. {sarcasm/]"

I believe that someone's personal life to a large extent reflects their judgment on matters. The President of the United States really needs to be a stable individual with sound judgment. You look to his/her personal life as part of determining their stability and ability to judge. JMHO

Give it a rest with the 11th commandment BS. Evidently Reagan did not find the commandment sufficient to prevent him from challenging a sitting Republican president in the primaries.

"Scorched earth" refers to burning down your own stuff, as the Russians did to foil the German invasion in WWII. If you want to burn down the Republican party to find the pirty you desire, then we will have our 30 years in the wilderness while the US becomes another socialist Euroweenie state.

BTW, Duncan Hunter has as much chance of becoming POTUS than I have of outscoring Kobe Bryant in a one-on-one matchup (and I am 53 years old).

Reagan challenged Ford on principles, not with destructive ad hominem attacks. That's why he got the nomination in 1980.

The 11th Commandment does not mean you sit on your hands. It means you don't sh** at your dinner table.

I consider nominating Rudy Giuliani sh***** at the dinner table.

The articles posted here were not written or published by freepers, we're merely commenting on them. If you find these posts so destructive perhaps you should consider what will happen to a candidate with Giuliani's background in the general election.

I'll still take a Thompson/Giuliani ticket to win in 2008.

Name your winning ticket.

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. For someone who wants to draft Newt, I wouldn't be so quick to throw out the 11th commandment. I recommend you read up on the history of the 1964 Presidential election to see why it still has importance.

There is nothing wrong with bringing up important issues for your preferred candidate, but slamming a candidates wife certainly is in violation of the 11th commandment. Oddly, I have a feeling that many FReepers would rather have Hillary be President than to ever compromise even the smallest amount. And if they have the folly to ignore the 11th commandment, I think they might just get their wish.

Forget the 11th Commandment. RG has ignored the sixth and ninth.

So you just ADDED the children thing to the headline. I don't care if he had 10 marriages. Honeslty. I JUST WANT A PRESIDENT WHO CAN WHOOP SOME MUSLIM ASS.

Like so many people have pointed out..Jimmy Carter is a family man who goes to church and Bill and Hillary are on marriage one...SO WHAT???

If I wanted a marriage expert for president, I'd vote for Dr. Laura.

Newt has lots of baggage. He's also right on the issues. While I was yet to be born in 1964 and the so-called 11th commandment was yet to be enunciated, based on what I do know of that election I have serious doubts that defeat can be laid at the feet of a destructive Republican primary. Or is the the point that Goldwater should not have been nominated?

In any case, Giuliani's personal life has left him open to these attacks, as I noted not initiated by this website. I want Hillary defeated as much as anyone, but I want her defeated by a candidate that won't destroy the conservative movement in the process.

Two Points:

1. You either want Hillary defeated or not. PERIOD.

2. No friendly fire. Attack the enemy, not the allies.

If you cannot tell the difference, you're a tool.

Six marriages between them.

Maybe their marriage should not be counted twice.

It looks good on paper but in reality that may not be so. A CEO of a firm I worked for many+ years ago said after his third marriage - it's always the ones with 'marriage issues' that have pointed their finger at me.

He said he noted that in his own circumstances and those of his friends, those who were unhappy themselves seemed most peeved and those that had a great marriage where there to support them both. And those that were 'secretly' cheating, discreetly, asked "since you are high profile aren't you afraid of backlash, gossip and how it will ruin your finances'. To them he said, 'if I lived my life because I was afraid of anything or anybody, I wouldn't be as successful as I am - besides I'm more creative and thus make more when I'm happy'. I tell you, he was the most pleasant person to work for in the midst of the 'whiney' grumps!

Two Points:

1. You either want to advance conservatism or you don't.

2. I'm not friendly to leftists.

If you are, you're a tool.
