MINNEAPOLIS--The land of 10,000 lakes and that welcoming attitude we call "Minnesota Nice"--is becoming a window on America's potential future. Here in Minneapolis, one of the nation's most livable cities, hard-line Muslim activists are injecting an element that is anything but nice.
Troubling incidents began several years ago, when taxi drivers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport--about three-quarters of whom are Muslim--started refusing to transport passengers carrying alcohol. One woman, returning from France with wine, was turned away by five cabs in succession. Refusals of service now number about 100 a month, and heated altercations have erupted.
In September 2006, the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) proposed a two color top-light pilot project to indicate which drivers would accept passengers with alcohol. The proposal, later dropped, would apparently have marked the first time that a government agency in the U.S. officially recognized Shariah law, and distinguished individuals who follow it from those who don't.

The solution is economic - let the non-muslim cab drivers put a "We do not discriminate" sign on their taxis, and all the non-muslims (95% of passengers) take those taxis, and starve out the muslim drivers. Similary at check out lines: Put "no pork" check out line(1)and "all products" check out line(9 or more) - since the muslims can only work that no pork line and not the other, we'll quickly root out most of the muslim store employees.

Try using the "indirect approach." Show up at the cab stand holding a hot dog and a beer and let the drivers decide who's got religion.
Incidentally, this was not mentioned in the article, but throughout this great land many convenience stores are manned by Muslims. Interesting how in this case Islamic law permits them to sell alcoholic beverages and pork products.

How is this any different than a pharmacist refusing to sell birth control?
If a muslim grocery store owner doesn't want to sell pork, that's his business. But, if the owner of the store sells pork, it would seem fair that he shouldn't have to maintain in his employ a clerk who refuses to sell it.
