Giuliani campaigns in Newport Beach (and outlines his positions)
Daily PIlot ^ | March 24, 2007 | Amanda Pennington and Alicia Robinson

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani led off with his strongest card, his terrorism-fighting credentials, before touching on healthcare, immigration and energy policy in a speech to a welcoming crowd Saturday.

"Sept. 11, 2001, taught me — and I believe it taught a lot of people, including President Bush — that we have to remain on offense," Giuliani said. "That means that we have to use our military. We can't show weakness."

Giuliani seemed to hit all the right notes Saturday, getting applause when he criticized Democrats' stance on healthcare and advocated vouchers for schools.

On immigration, he told reporters he doesn't support amnesty for illegal immigrants, but he could support a guest worker program if there were adequate border security and tamper-proof ID cards. He said that even if illegal immigrants "can demonstrate that they are lawful, that they are paying taxes [and] that they'll pay penalties," they still shouldn't be put ahead of people who go through legal channels.

"And citizenship here, if it's earned, should be premised on being able to read and write English and understand American history, so we restore assimilation to the process of immigration," he said.

"Nothing will unite the Republicans more than a candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton," Curry said.

Like I have been told by someone solidly in the liberal (Rudy) camp, FR is an open forum. Any post is an open invitation for any FReeper to reply.

I hope you put your time off to good use and take an intensive remedial writing course.

Yesterday, one of the Rudy FRiberals tried to tell me that if the moderators or JimRob tried to limit what they wrote that it would be a violation of their right to free speech.

Yesterday, one of the Rudy FRiberals tried to tell me that if the moderators or JimRob tried to limit what they wrote that it would be a violation of their right to free speech.

That's pure BS!

Considering one of the Rudiots falsely accused me of lying, even in the face of clear evidence, and the Mods did nothing, I'd say the liberal FRudybots are given preferential treatment.

And if telling the truth, being called a liar, and being repeatedly ignored by the Mods gets me banned or suspended, it will only prove my case.

I'm done playing nice with liars and hypocrites!

Yep, when I said that Free Republic was first and foremost a CONSERVATIVE FORUM and that Rudy's liberalism were at odds with that, I was accused of believing in "stifling free speech."

I mentioned to the poster that FR is privately owned and free speech had nothing to do with it.

The watchers are asleep. Or indifferent.

We are on our own.

But that's fine with me.

One thing for certain - I am not the same FReeper that I was yesterday.

Hi airborne. You are now a fightin' freeper. Good for you.

The Rudypatrol is in retreat, at least the usual ones, uh, for the moment.

They know when they are getting beat.

So, you think that joining and contributing means you are a conservative? I really don't know if you are or not, but I do know that your choice for the GOP nomination is a BLEEDING HEART LIBERAL.

I take it you still don't understand that limiting postings on FR have NOTHING TO DO with free speech.

Why do you want to limit or ban anyone who disagrees with you? What are you afraid of? And YES, I DO CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE A PROLIFE, PRO 2ND AMENDMENT, CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN who wants to keep DEMOCRATS out of the White House in '08! If you think everyone who disagrees with you should be banned, that might get rid of hundreds of people in this forum. Think about it.

I've been contributing monitarily to this forum since 2004 because I thought it was a good place for Republicans to band together against the liberal forces in this country. Now I see I have to defend my conservatism to loud mouthed bullies who don't agree with my choice of Republican candidate.

You mean you paid to argue against yourself? If you are voting liberal, stand for liberalism. In that case go to the DU and argue with them over who is more lib, Hillary, Obama or Rudy.

I'm voting AGAINST liberal. And for someone who can keep the liberals OUT of the White House. You should do the same.

Look inside yourself Katie-o. I could care less about the money you spent. You did it on your own.

Any other tripe you throw at the attempt to pretend to be a conservative is also your own doing.

I am a relativly poor conservative. Money does not buy your way to a belief. Put your money where your mouth is.

Walk and speak as a conservative.

If you want to do wonders for conservatism. Teach it to Rudy. Don't accuse me. I have nothing to gain.

If that means walking and speaking in lock step with YOU, no thanks!! I'll continue to be proud of being a conservative Republican, like many others, including Ted Olson, who is supporting Rudy Giuliani for President.

Don't name throw at me. I liked his wife. Ted is an attorney. Get it? You are not a conservative, so cut the act. Most people on here see through you. You don't have to agree with me. the least you could do is be a cvonservative and quit pretending otherwise.

Now you just need to change your tagline.

If she meant to vote to keep a lib out of the White House, she must have meant she would vote "no" to Rudy. Right?
