without closed borders there is no future existence for the US I grew up in. Period. There would be no reason whatsoever to vote for either of the two candidates if the next election shaped up as you propose, because neither of those two would preserve a country worth defending.

I am a conservative. If conservatives are on the ballot I will vote for the best one, regardless of the party or lack thereof preceding the name. If republicans want the conservative vote, they will field a conservative candidate. If they field a liberal candidate and then whine like a 3 year old who wanted a toy and didn't get it when conservatives don't vote for their liberal, then they deserve to lose - because they chose to discard the conservative vote.

Preemptive whining now does not entitle a liberal to claim the vote of conservatives no matter what he or she puts before their name.
