I purchased the book on March 17th in Washington DC at the Gathering of Eagles.
I highly suggest reading this book. Also, please check the video on the home page.
I think that we all need to think about this.

I have the book and the book states the six steps are
Innovation
Training
Enabling
Intelligence

Let me see if I can find a link because it will take a book to explain some of this....

That is a good read.
I think a lot of his ideas are good. I saw on the web page where Mrs. Bush introduced him. I hope he has the White House's ear.

My pleasure!
Maj. Egland is thinking "outside of the box" and offering ways for any American to get involved in making the mission successful. We can all support that!
I didn't get a chance to hear him speak at GOE, but Mrs. Smooth and I were there. It's a day I will long cherish.

It was one of the most honorable days of my life. I know it was a pure honor to stand next to all of the Vietnam Vets.
I like how he thinks. I understand it anyway. I am willing to send emails and the like. I do that anyway.
I gather all the good news on the War on Terror (WOT) I can find every night. I find a lot of good stuff here from Sand Rat. Then I put it in a email and I mail it to the commie newspapers, TV Stations, and others like FNC who are good people. I send it to the Commies because they seem to have trouble finding and reporting good news. Sometimes FNC does too, so I want to remind them :-)
I figured I would help them out a little. I also blind copy a lot of friends and family. I hope they send it to their friends. I went on vacation to DC and missed sending it a few nights. I might miss a Saturday night once in a while, but that is it. I am loyal to the email.
BTW:
If you and or other readers here are interested in receiving the WOT GOOD news alert that I send, just freep mail a email address to me and I'll send you a sample to see if you like it.
You would be amazed at the amount I can find in a night. IT is amazing how the media misses it. But they don't miss one road side bombing. Anyway, I get good feedback from friends. And I feel like I am doing something. May not be much, but it helps with my Post Traumatic Liberal Stress Disorder (PTLSD).

A very real way of helping the troops directly is to organize a "BBQ club". Four or five homeowners set up a club, each person agreeing to host a party (not necessarily a BBQ) for a few people every month or two.
The idea is to go to a local military installation or Reserve and National Guard post. With the permission of the post authorities, provide a simple list of when each small party is to be held, where it will be, and how many military personnel can be greeted there as guests. The senior post NCO will then let it be known to anyone who is interested and decide who can go.
On the day of the party, the one homeowner who is the host drives out to the post and picks up three or four service members, then drives them to his house for a small party. When it is done, then he drives them back to their post.
A group of just four or five homeowners, each having one party a month, can morale boost 15-20 military personnel a month, with all sorts of home cooked food, family delicacies, and other guests to rub elbows with the troops and give them encouragement. Plenty of pictures should be taken.
(As a rule of thumb, though, little or no alcohol should be served.)
This is all based on where you live, though, as not everybody lives near to such an installation or post. But if you do, a BBQ club is easy, inexpensive, and a great way to hear war stories. Plus you're doing something real and positive and direct for our military.

Thanks Smooth.
If you see something good, please ping me. More eyes out there the better.
And thanks again.

You can call me anything but late for super. Who doesn't like free BBQ? It would be an honor to shake their hand and say thank you.
I have a friend of mine who has done two tours over there and is going back again. He used to race cars when we were kids. I bought him a Richard Petty Experience. I don't know if you know about that. You can check it out at 1800bepetty.com.
Now, I wanted to show him my appreciation for what he has done. He turned around and had a flag flown in a F16 over free IRaq and then flew the flag over Balad Air Base in my name. He honored me when I was trying to honor him. I feel more blessed and honored then he probably does.
I don't think people know how great our Troops are. I am damn proud of them all.
I carried that flag at the GOE in DC on March 17th. While I was standing in line to see the Wall, some fellow from Amsterdam (I think) put a microphone in my face and asked if I thought the war was going bad. I answered, 'no, they told us we would lose 10,000 Troops going to Baghdad. IT is four years later and we have lost a third of that number. In four years of WWII, we lost almost half a million. Look over there', and I pointed to the Korean Memorial, 'over 52,000 fell in two years. And the bloodiest day in our history saw 22,000 fall in four hours at Antietam. No, Iraq is not going bad. It could be better, but it could be worse too. I am proud of our Troops and the great job they have done and I support them'.
He walked away after that and a couple Vietnam Vets behind me shook my hand and said good job. I felt pretty good. But out of all this, I say arm your self with some facts. Be prepared to use them. And hug a Troop somehow. If we all showed one Volunteer Trooper some appreciation, we could help lift their morale.
