Yes, and that is my biggest problem with him. If he is wrong on affirmative action he doesn't really get the conservative agenda of equal treatment for all and special rights for none.

Being Pro Affirmative action is not necessarily the same as being for quotas and forcing folks to do what they otherwise might not do. Some folks can't see the distinction, and want to assume the negative.

No, they are taking one amendment vote in a budget bill whose title said 'no money can be applied to quota based programs' that Thompson voted against and claims he is for affirmative action, however, they all fail to read the actual amendment which gives exceptions for pretty much everything.. basically, no matter how Thompson voted on this amendment, they would claim the same thing.. it is a lose/lose vote for those who want to attack Fred.
