Giuliani Sees Policy Role for Wife (Maggot Gagger)
Wash Post ^ | 3/30/07 | Mike Shear

Former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani told ABC News's Barbara Walters that he would welcome his wife, Judith, at White House Cabinet meetings and other policy discussions if he were elected president next year.

"If she wanted to," Giuliani said in the "20/20" interview to be broadcast tonight. "If they were relevant to something that she was interested in. I mean that would be something that I'd be very, very comfortable with."

Giuliani, who is leading the Republican field in early polling, called his wife an important adviser to him. His wife, a nurse, said that she would probably play an important role in developing health-care policy in a Giuliani administration.

In the interview, Judith Giuliani also addressed her husband's public breakup with his most recent former wife, her relationship with Giuliani's son, and the former mayor's fight to overcome prostate cancer. This is the third marriage for both.

Fred's wife is actually one who SHOULD be able to advise him, based on her impressive resume. Rudy's new ho, not so much.

I don't know, there seems to be a long tradition of Southern presidents using family members as advisors. Clinton had Hillary on health care. Jimmy Carter had Amy on nuclear war. And so on.

it too closely alligns Rudy and Judy with the Bill and Hillary show, and this bothers me.

I'm in support of Rudy right now (until Fred Thompson steps in, and Newt wouldn't win). But the memory of Bill and Hillary is too ugly for me and Rudy and Judy remind me of Bill and Hillary.

I'd rather just have Rudy.

just me.

Let's see. His wife is a nurse so she will set in on discussions regarding the nations health care needs. Well isn't that just special! I was a railroad engineer, does that mean I can set in and help develop a master plan for the nation's transportation system? This is a bad as a actor who played a farmer giving testimony before congress on the needs of farmers.

The more Rudy talks the less I like.

Judy may be a nurse, but what are her qualifications on national healthcare management issues?

As I said on the other thread about this misstep by Guiliani, I would like people to widen their horizons and ask what the role of a Mrs. Edwards (trial lawyer), Mrs. OBama (corporate lawyer and board member) or former President Clinton would be if their spouse were elected.

I don't think any of the people I have named would be content with "causes" and would DEMAND a voice in policy decisions.

I'd take Fred's wife over Rudy's
