BINGO!

Not long ago I read an article (either Newsweek or US News and World Reports?) about the growth of and demand for organic foods and how traditional American organic farmers can’t keep up with the demand and said many companies who produce and package organic foods are buying from…you guessed it – China.

Farmers who want their produce, grains, etc. to be labeled “Organic” have to meet strict USDA certifications as do any consumer end products but ingredients grown in other countries – well we just take their word for it and trust their “certifications”.

I would suspect this is a problem extends beyond organic foods and pet food – scary.

Organic food from China means it was fertilized with peasant poop.

Indeed it does. Imported Asian ginseng products are one of the worst. They use human feces for fertilizer and spray many U.S. banned chemicals on their plants.

If you take ginseng, it is best to use true American "wild harvested" or "wild simulated" roots (Panax quinquefolium) or U.S. certified organic. Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng) is imported by the ton to the U.S. and sold in health food stores. Buyer beware!

I’m trying to grow most of my *organic* food. The more I can do myself, the better I feel. That’s why I do my own canning and freezing, also.
