According to the US Geological Survey and other sources, one volcano can spew out more CO2 and SO2 in a matter of days than the entire city of New York can produce in one year. There are many dozens of active volcanos around the world today. Does 'AlGore' and his group of hand picked, grant-seeking, scientists factor in volcanic emissions into their half baked equations about 'man made' global warming? And how do they distinguish how much co2 and so2 is produced naturally from how much is man made? If co2 is heavier than oxygen and nitrogen, the main components in our air, how is it that it stays above us to act as a greenhouse gas in the first place??
'Globalist Warming'. Something stinks...and it ain't the volcanos.
Al Gore demands volcanoes be banned but only he can have volcanoes.
The greatest greenhouse gas is water. Gaseous water is steam. Maybe we should start banning bath houses....
Global Warming has never been about good science. It is all about gaining money and power through fear.
I need help with a carbon question:
According to the "carbon cycle", carbon flows into the atmosphere and then chemically reacts with rainwater and minerals in rock thru a process of weathering, as well s being absorbed and used by plants. The more wilderness, mountains a country has, the more carbon is "absorbed". Enter the USA, Australia and Canada - countries which should absorb a lions share of carbon - contra places like Holland and Japan.
Question: If the USA produces more carbon than any other country, how much of this is absorbed b/c of our mountains, forrests etc?
This is a serious question - serious answers, please.

On another article, another Freeper referred to a scientist's comment that made a lot of sense. The statement was: CO2 is an indicator of warming- not a cause. Think of a soda left out on a hot day. The soda goes flat very quicky because the CO2 is quickly expelled into the atmosphere, while on a cold day the soda goes flat much slower because it is absorbed at a much slower rate.
It won't be long before the only members left in this Gasbag's Cult of Idiocracy are certifiable lunatics, and 4th Graders and their teachers - ex cheerleaders who graduated from Community College with 2.05 GPA's who think they are saving the polar bears by telling their charges that, "..your Mom and Dad should like stop using plastic bags okay. Wow, isn't President Clinton like hot?"

Emissions of CO2 by human activities, including fossil fuel burning, cement production, and gas flaring, amount to about 22 billion tonnes per year (24 billion tons) [ ( Marland, et al., 1998) - The reference gives the amount of released carbon (C), rather than CO2.]. Human activities release more than 150 times the amount of CO2 emitted by volcanoes--the equivalent of nearly 17,000 additional volcanoes like Kilauea (Kilauea emits about 13.2 million tonnes/year)!
3) SO2 in the upper atmosphere IS NOT A GREENHOUSE GAS. It forms Sulfuric acid droplets that reflect sunlight and COOL the earth.
4) Thus the primary effect of large volcanic eruptions is to COOL the earth for several years. The cooling of the SO2 overwhelms the warming of the CO2 they inject (and as noted, this amount of CO2 is far less than that of human activity.

There are many dozens of active volcanos around the world today.
And very few large eruptions recently. Last decent one was Pinatubo in 1991. Absence of such eruptions could be contributing some to recent warmer global temperatures.
I hope in our lifetime the alarmists of lunatical Armageddon will be arrested, convicted of lunacy and sent to the nearest luni-bin....for good!!!
Little do you know how close you are to the "truth" of global warming. All of the CO2 data comes from a single NOAA monitoring station located on the slopes of Mauna Loa on the Island of Hawaii. It is only several miles away from Kilauea, an active volcanic vent which has been erupting for the past 24 years.
Kilauea puts out enough gases and pollution that it affects the air quality of the entire State of Hawaii. (We haven't had trade winds for several days here on Oahu, and the "vog" (volcanic smog) from the Island of Hawaii a couple hundred miles away is quite noticeable today.) It also means Hawaii has one of the highest asthma levels in the country.
They don't tell you this when they go on and on about the increases in CO2.
Global warming is a SCAM, pure and simple.

This is false. CO2 flux has been studied at a wide variety of volcanoes around the world, including aircraft overflights, etc.
Cmon people, you need to move beyond a half-assed "what I want to believe is true, is true" mode of argument that is devoid of any actual reasearch of anything.
The CO2 output from Pinatubo was about 42 Mt, and man puts out about 7100 Mt a year. The more important number is that all natural sources release about 150,000 Mt
