Giuliani: Consider More Offshore Oil
Forbes ^ | April 4, 2007 | BRENDAN FARRINGTON/AP

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday said everything has to be considered if the United States wants to break its reliance on foreign oil, including more drilling off Florida's coast.

Calling the energy supply a major domestic problem, Giuliani said the nation needs to focus on nuclear power production and renewable energy sources. In the meantime it also needs to see what oil can be tapped, he said.

"Energy independence means everything has to be open for discussion," Giuliani said when asked about offshore drilling. "The idea of having more oil under our command, so to speak, or within our orbit probably for some period of time is going to be important. The ultimate goal, however, should be renewable sources of energy."

Only an idiot would vote for Giuliani.

Jeeze you just insulted over 200 freepers on my ping list plus Freepers who are voting for Rudy who are not on my list. That's just lovely!

—”And you don’t have the power to stop him unless you field someone who can get more votes.”-—

Well, Freepers tried it the Rudophile way, but Rudophiles have no problem with lying, so it makes things difficult.

For weeks, we heard Rudophiles tell us about how they simply supported Rudy in spite of his views because it was practical. They told us that if we could show a more Conservative, electable candidate, they’d be right on board!

Along comes Fred Thompson. Polls have him also beating Hillary.

So the Rudophile reaction was, naturally, to follow through and start carrying water for Fred, right?

Not!

Nope, instead we get daily assaults on Fred Thompson, and nary a Rudophile has wavered in their support of NARAL’s favored son.

Which goes to our original point, we the anti-Liberals, that is: Rudophiles support Rudy BECAUSE of his Liberal views, not in spite of them. The endless list of what should be deal-breaking Liberal stances doesn’t make a Rudophile blink. Why? Because they too are Liberal!

Even when presented with a candidate who met their demands (when they were lying about being willing to support a more Conservative candidate in the primaries) did not phase them. It is no accident. That’s why Conservatives can now see that it really is about Liberalizing the party, and has nothing to do with anything else when it all comes down to it.

It is an internal fight between good and evil, with the Rudophiles trying to tell us that 80% evil ain’t all that bad. We who want Conservatism to survive 2008 will continue to push for a Conservative candidate; those folks like yourself who wish it dismantled in favor of a progressive GOP will just have to deal with our opposition.

"I believe that abortion should be legally made available in cases of incest and rape."

That is not what Rudy believes, he is a little more liberal than that. I guess you also believe abortions should be paid for by the tax payer. Rudy does.

Well since my wife and I know someone who had this happen to them and also knowing the wonderful child that came about from the crime, I would say 100% yes to your straw man.

“The real poll is the GOP primaries, not some numbers pulled out of some CBS executive’s rear.”

A perfect example of Political Debating 101: When the numbers don’t support your candidate, trash the numbers. If that doesn't’t work, try to trash the candidate.

I wonder how some of these anti-abortion zealots would react if their wife or daughter was brutally raped by a criminal of a different race. Would they want their said wife/daughter to have the baby then?

Some people are actually capable of loving other human beings, especially their own children.

If you see a light skinned black person walking down the street in any US city you may very well be looking at the decedent of rapist. But mothers are amazing beings and we almost always love our children, even when their fathers are sub-human.

Rudy is not my first choice, but only an idiot wouldn't vote for him if he is the nominee and the other choice is Obama or Hillary.

OT Didn't you LOVE Mitt's one liners? Hillary misguided, Obama inexperienced and Rosie O'Donnell moonbat. LOL

I don't think you can get many people, conservative or not, to agree totally on a few things.

President Bush was and is, the man for the time ... a few areas we're not so agreed upon, but who else was there?

There's not a single electable candidate on either side that I support 100%, and I'm not totally sold on Rudy ... but he seems to be a strong personality with a successful leadership background.

The socialists aren't going to just go away in 2008, so the president is going to have to have a strong back and a forceful manner.

I'm still watching, but Giuliani isn't the worst of the lot.

I think if we truly analyze the 'pro-choice' rhetoric, we'll probably find a constitutional "leave it to the states" opinion that translates into "I'm for it", but is really a constitutional stand spoken in politician-eze.

Then answer the question that no other Rudy supporter will answer:

If Rudy were running as a Democrat, would you vote for him over a Republican like Hunter, Romney or Thompson?

By the way, glad Rudy is for energy independence. We definitely need more offshore drilling.

The only offshore oil Rudy can produce is that from his skin.

I guess since the Rutards can no longer fool us with the "Rudy is a strict constructionist" schpiel, now he is pro-offshore drilling. The only offshore drilling Rudy supports involves his a-s ugly former mistress, Judi.

Here is what Giuliani REALLY said:

"GIULIANI: Same position -I'm in the same position now that I was 12 years ago when I ran for mayor --as mayor, which is, personally opposed to abortion, don't like it, hate it, would advise that woman to have an adoption rather than abortion, hope to find the money for it. But it is your choice, an individual right. You get to make that choice, and I don't think society should be putting in jail...

-—”So I guess OPEC is your favorite to rule the country!”-—

Oh, Rudy is going to end OPEC now?!?! Now that’s funny! Perhaps he should stop providing lobbying and legal representation for Hugo Chavez, if you’re going to make ending OPEC credible.

But hey, what’s a little profiteering from a man who’s “no friend of America?”

But he supports global warming. Which means he’ll be compromised by the greens. And, assuming he’s President, (GOD HELP US), won’t make any impact on energy.
